As much as I would like to give 5 stars, I will not. My first day walking into a Bible study class
An insecure Fellowship Attendee---that's so and so husband, that's Peggy's husband and this is my fiance-Now where is your husband???. She then proceeded to ask where I was from and every statement I said-she knocked down...oh that's not the valley. Oh, we don't call that west Texas.
I think this hispanic older woman must have thought I was white by using the word "we" because I then told her my last name was Garcia.
Next class, when I walked in the first thing she said to me was---my fiance is taking my last name because Garcia is so common. I could care less about this woman. The whole reason I am writing this review is because my child's friend goes to this church and is now asking to go back.
People wear sticky note name tags and this person went by just her initial and her fiance went by a nickname. Usually when people use their street names they have criminal records of some kind. I don't judge but this along with the church doing a sermon that racism does not exist was more than off putting.
People come to church for fellowship. This is what Ed Youngs original church was about when I first started 20 years ago. Now, it's something of a hodge podge of people employed by the church that say they are teachers but clearly lack any substance.
They bring their old world values of systematic racism/albeism and don't realize that the world...
Read moreThis is a bible church in the middle of Dallas. The church is in a modern building and the service is contemporary with a band, lead singers and back-up singers. The pastor delivering the message is outgoing, and I have found the messages and bible references relevant. If you don't bring a bible, no worries as they have the verses on the monitors. People here are very friendly but not "in your face" friendly. I didn't feel intimidated by members mobbing me before or after the service about becoming a member. They provide free coffee before and after the service, on the second floor, and you can take it into the sanctuary during the service. Or bring your own from home or Starbucks! People are generally dressed in "church casual," and everyone seems comfortable here. You come into the building on the first floor, but the entrance to the sanctuary is on the second floor. They have elevators and escalators for those that need extra mobility assistance. They have a large parking lot and a parking garage available. Their location immediately off Central Expressway makes it easy to access from most parts of Dallas. They only have one service on Sunday. It starts at 10a and goes until 11:15-11:30 depending on if there is a baptism or communion that day. If you are looking for bible church, I...
Read moreFellowship has been my home church for over 5 years. As a child of Christian parents, who loved the Lord and lead a life of integrity, it was hard to find a place to fit the needs of my family. Shortly after moving to Texas, my husband suggested visitng Fellowship Bible Church. And while we didn't immediately warm up to the contemporary style of worship, the messages proved to be of sound doctrine and deep conviction. We have found the words of Pastor Gary to be full of truth AND grace. The Children's Ministry is such a blessing! My kids come home sharing Bible stories and memory verses. As a mom, it's exciting to hear my daughter, singing in the shower (TOP of her lungs) songs like "How Great Is Our God". Every time we've faced a challenge, the leaders of this church are there to walk us through. From the church counselors to the ushers, you will find a community working together to grow in the faith. Like us, if your first impression is not what you expected, be willing and open to see what GOD has in...
