We called in an order late at night here after we went to pick up an order at a different Indian food restaurant and they did not receive our online order and thus didn’t make it! We were lucky things didn’t work out for us because Hyderabadi Biryani & BBQ was absolutely amazing. The food was so delicious and the ladies who work there were the sweetest. This place is a hole in the wall but I prefer take out anyway. They said they used to be on Harry Hines and now they are right behind the Shops at Park Lane. The butter chicken masala and butter paneer masala were so flavorful. The naan is house made, massive, and so soft and tender. The prices on the bread seemed high until I saw the size. However, I didn’t understand why the garlic naan was double the price so we didn’t order. We did try the paneer kulcha and regular naan and both were so good. The only dish I didn’t care for was the mix vegetable. I could tell there was a lot of spices put in but it somehow was still bland. The chili paneer appetizer had a nice soft texture from the heated cheese and fried exterior that is drenched in a sweet and spicy sauce. I also only had a certain amount of cash on me; it was cheaper than paying with card. The woman over the phone was so kind to still throw in a free chai tea which I wanted to order but was short on money. The tea was delicious and a great balance between sweet (but not overly sweet) and savory. There was something unique about it from other chai teas that I’ve tasted before. We loved our experience and can’t wait to come back again! Thank you for your generosity and lovingly...
Read moreA fantastic, authentic taste of India hidden in a little shop (and Halal!). It may be easy to overlook this shop as it is quietly tucked tightly against the side of the road, but dont let it's size fool you, their food is some of the best I've had in a while. The auntie running the shop was kind and helpful, ready to explain anything and everything on the menu my mom and I were curious in.
We got the Butter Chicken, Chicken Biriyani, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi, but I can't wait to go back to try some of their other dishes like the samosas and haleem! The balance of spices and flavors for everything was exceptional. The biriyani was warm, comforting, and something else I can really only explain as 'colorful.' The butter chicken was everything it should be and more, creamy and velvety, utterly luxurious. The garlic naan was buttery and crispy and the absolute best vessel for the butter chicken. The mango lassi was the perfect little refresher to help cut the spice every so often, sweet, creamy, bright. And the portion sizes were generous. My mom and I each had enough left over to split between each of our households.
My only note is just to clearly mention (for anyone who bothers to read these) this is authentic indian food, which means it is made with love, aka plentiful spice! Don't let that intimidate you though, this little gem is truly...
Read moreI grew up in Hyderabad and am always on the search for authentic Hyderabadi food, especially biryani, which is not easy to find in the DFW area in spite of dozens of places claiming they are authentic but not really. I have found maybe 2 to 3 places that can justifiably claim they are authentic, and Aga's Biryani is one of them. I went there for lunch today with my kids, had chicken biryani, mutton biryani, chicken 65, double ka meetha and qubani ka meetha. The biryanis, especially the chicken biryani, reminded me of my days in Hyderabad, especially the dinner receptions and old city biryani places. I have been in the DFW area for 20yrs now and can honestly say this is the closest to Hyderabadi biryani I have had, maybe apart from one other restaurant. While it was not the gourmet Nizami version (there are some variations to biryani recipes), it was the best mainstream rendering I have had in a long time. The chicken 65 was very fresh and maybe the best I have had in a while (although it is only bar food), and the qubani was deliciously authentic (not many so called Hyderabadi places have qubani ka meetha, that itself is a sign). The owner (Fathima) was very warm and welcoming and offered suggestions for my kids to try, like visiting an aunt's house. We live 30 miles away but will be going back every chance we get. Hope this place thrives...
