Attended the grand re-opening of this historic venue with Asleep at the Wheel performing the music of Bob Wills. A perfect homage to the origins of the Longhorn Ballroom that was built for Bob Wills himself. From the vintage decor preserved on the exterior, including the neon sign, to the new displays of the famous acts who performed over the years, it was a great throwback to the history of the venue. We sat in suite C in the back and we had a perfectly unobstructed view of the entire stage. Our suite included 12 seats and we had plenty of room. The acoustics were perfect - comfortably loud and clear. The whole room had so much energy and felt intimate even though it can hold a big crowd. You could tell the band was feeling this vibe, as well. We had our own dedicated server for the suite and she was quick and attentive. A few days leading up to the show I received an email from the concierge team explaining everything from the parking to the special express entrance for our group. Parking was plentiful and easy - right on site. Lots of staff directing traffic. The entire experience from beginning to end was seamless. I’m so happy to see this venue brought back to life and I look forward to seeing more concerts there as...
Read moreIt is easy to find, but the parking situation is not so much. We arrived early for the event since we've never been here and didn't know the line situation. Drove behind the building to look for parking but realized parking was upfront. The gates were just closed.
Once gates opened, we entered and directed to park in open dirt field next to venue. Seems like there was a lack of communication since the parking personnel came and told us we were not allowed to park far close to entry gates. Parking was $20+tax for digital qr code payment.
Venue - everyone was courteous and sweet. The chairs around the dance floor were great until we found out that there was a different ticket pricing. It would be good for signage for those seating areas for us, confused folks.
Otherwise, I love the multiple bar areas, loved the AC, coming from a human volcano, works wonders.
Confusion again in the end for Meet and Greet. We were lead to back room, but another personnel had us leave, but was brought back by someone else.
Other than that, I love this venue. Everyone was sweet beside the...
Read moreThe grand reopening weekend of The Longhorn Ballroom will go down in my memory as one of the best concert events I’ve ever attended.
I was fortunate to see Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel on opening night. Don’t miss his huge yellow boots in the art/chive area.
Excellently curated memorabilia from 72 years of diverse celebrities was an unexpected delight!
The second night was Old Crow Medicine Show. They “kicked it” like kids! One of the most energetic and entertaining shows I’ve seen. Surprise! Bonus!! Robert Earl Keen came out for a single song!
Joshua Ray Walker was the perfect opener, too!
I was prepared to just accept bad sound since it was opening weekend in such a large open space. Not so!!! The sound was incredibly crisp and clear for AATW, and even better for OCMS!
Here’s to the second chapter of excellence at “The Longhorn” and Kessler Presents.
I can’t wait to go back...
