There aren’t enough stars on here for me to properly rate this place! After passing by the building for years and being curious, and then finding myself googling “fun things to do with a teenager in Dallas” only to have this place appear on literally EVERY list- it was a no brainer! I took my 12 year old son, and the whole time we were getting ready he kept saying “mom this sounds really gay. I don’t have a problem with that at all I just don’t think it’s going to be what you’re expecting…” (funny for your 12 y/o to tell you this kinda thing) we were a couple minutes late but luckily we ran into “Colorful CoCa” who let us in quickly and immediately was welcoming, just AMAZING energy/vibe about him. I was immediately enthralled but the 12 y/o (forever the skeptic) was like “this is kinda weird” the first room is (to me) like the least interesting one so don’t make up your mind based on this one. I thought it was cool, kayson however was skeptical still. As we made our way into the next room, I needed to use the restroom and was thrilled to find that even the restroom was decorated impressively! I was absolutely IN LOVE with the place before walked out! The decorating is top notch when it comes to creativity and it was super gratifying to me when as we turned the next corner my son was like “woaaaah mom this is awesome!!!!!!” (#winning) the entire spot is just bursting with creativity. The folks that put it together and did all of the art are seriously creative wizards!! I don’t want to give away too terribly much abt the place on here bc part of the fun is the surprise that lies around every corner. But I will say there are like cool masks, hats, capes, goggles… just LOTS of fun stuff to work with. It was fun to go with my son, and I bet it’d even be awesome to go with a group of adults. There’s a fridge with drinks, they say they charge you for them but they do it on the honor system (which is heartwarming in todays world anyways) but even after repeatedly telling CoCa what we drank and trying to pay, he insisted it was on the house. If there’s any recommendations I can make to have the most enjoyable time they’d be 1. To go with at least 3 people so that you can take turns taking pictures and 2. Don’t take your purse or any kinda bag you have to lug around- having to carry and keep up with it kinda just hinders your ability to be 100% into the whole experience. It was a little later in the evening when we went so Kayson and I had the place to ourselves and I thought that was cool, but I think it would’ve been just as cool with a small group. They only allow 25 ppl total to do it at once and I think that’s exactly how it should be. In our case, we had a couple of unexpected things pop up during the day before we went and I had to change our booking time honestly, I think like 3 times and they made it super easy for me to do that… even though one of the times was literally like 6 minutes before we were supposed to be there. They had neat little trinkets and things you can buy up at the front. And Colorful CoCa was even nice enough to allow us to stay abt 15 min late after they were supposed to be closing. He actually took the only picture I have of Kayson and I standing together (like not taken in “selfie- style) and he did so at a really cool angle. Seriously, I can’t recommend this place enough. I will definitely be going back and telling everyone I know encouraging them to check it out as well. I’m going to upload a few of our...
Read moreI paid $28 a ticket for my daughter’s birthday party. The day of the party I needed to add 2 guests and noticed tickets were only $10 for kids and $14 for adults. 😳
I thought that was a pretty significant drop in price so when we called to add 2 guests we asked why tickets were so different in price all of a sudden and were refunded for 2 tickets and promised swag bags for each guest. We had 13 guests total.
Parking was a nightmare and we argued with the parking lot attendant (who did not work for rainbow vomit) because she didn’t want us to use the passes offered by Rainbow Vomit and she wasn’t very friendly. $30 to park without the pass (could have been a surge charge for the fair and that’s probably also the reason for the busy lot). When we got there, we were in 3 cars. Rainbow vomit only had 1 pass left. There weren’t that many people in the venue, which makes me wonder how many passes they actually have to offer their guests. The guy working at the front offered us the pass on his car, which was nice, so we had two passes total.
The venue itself was cute. I think we were expecting a bit more. There are 3 rooms (I guess 4 including the entrance) downstairs and 1 upstairs. The decor was fun but underwhelming even for the 11 year old girls. You can easily see everything in 15 minutes. So I maybe understand the $10-$14 a ticket but definitely not worth $28 a ticket.
When it was time to go, instead of “swag bags” we were given 2 stickers each. When we asked about the swag bags they told us they changed their minds and the stickers were replacing the swag bags. This was very disappointing to the girls who were looking forward to swag bags- especially the birthday girl. (And for what I paid 🙈)
Do I recommend? Maybe for a quick stop on a bar crawl or something. But definitely not for a birthday venue with a group of girls. There is just not...
Read moreThis is a really fun place to explore! Rainbow Vomit might be called an "immersive art" exhibit, but you'll want to come here ready to take a lot of pictures. Everything is designed to serve as a "grammable" photo opportunity; just get creative and upload your best!
They do have some selfie sticks scattered throughout the exhibit, designed to be used with a smartphone, although I'd recommend bringing your own, especially if you don't have a friend with you, or if you wish to take videos. While definitely best enjoyed with a friend (or friends), you can come here by yourself as well, selfie stick in tow, and have plenty of fun snapping pictures! In fact, all of the pictures shown on this review were taken by myself, using the timer on either my iPhone (pictures 5-8; pic 4 is a frame from a video) or on my standalone camera (pics 1, 2, 3 and 9, 10, 11).
Out of the many photo opportunities available throughout the exhibit, I actually enjoyed the ribbon curtains the most! I didn't see these curtains getting a lot of picture-taking love (aside from myself), but they can serve as both a fun and playful photo backdrop, as well as a prop to pose with. The ribbons facing the lobby (the side with the black-and-white ribbons) are thicker and can be trickier to pose with, but I find that part of the fun of posing with them, not to mention the "pop of color" effect (from the rainbow ribbons on the inside) seen when you burst through them! The dark space inside of the ribbon curtains is also a fun place for pictures, with the tiny color-changing lights, although it can be tricky to take good pictures in there.
Aside from the ribbons, I also enjoyed the black-and-white "heart wall" upstairs, as well as the "secret" cloud room! If you're struggling to find the secret room, there's a fun little contraption (hint: upstairs) that will...
