Dining at the Crystal Terrace before a show at Fair Park is truly a wonderful experience and part of what makes a night at the theater feel extra special. The buffet offers an impressive variety of dishes, and what really sets it apart is how the menu changes to reflect the theme or culture of the play that’s currently showing. It’s such a thoughtful and creative touch that adds depth to the overall experience.
The food is fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. There’s something for everyone—salads, entrées, carving stations, desserts—and it’s clear they take pride in both the quality and variety. Whether you're in the mood for something classic or a little more adventurous, you'll find it here.
Service is top-notch. The staff is warm, attentive, and efficient, making sure everything flows smoothly so you can relax and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed before the show. It's quick and convenient without sacrificing hospitality.
The space itself is elegant and inviting, with lovely views and a calm atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the buzz of the performance energy just steps away. It’s a beautiful place to start your evening.
Reservations are required, and I highly recommend making them in advance—especially on busy show nights. Crystal Terrace is not just a meal; it’s a perfect complement to your night at the theater. A seamless blend of dining and entertainment, and a must-do if you're planning to attend a show...
Read moreMy most recent visit to the Crystal Terrace was not as enjoyable as my previous experiences. Per their website, it states that reservations are recommended. When I arrived at 11:45am which was 15 minutes after opening I was seated next to the piano player at a bar height table. I was most concerned because my mother is unable to sit in a high seat. The hostess went to speak to another hostess who said we did not have a reservation and there were no seats. They could sit us at the low end of the bar and bring over some chairs. This was very unpleasant for me, but I kept my mouth shut so my mother would have a good time. I did not enjoy the entrees. I ate the cod, vegetable medley, and potatoes. The potatoes are never cooked long enough, and are kind of hard. This is my third time visiting and having the potatoes. They are not roasted long enough, and are too salty for me. The atmosphere was too loud for me as it was disorienting to sit at the end of the bar where the staff bring in patrons, count cash, pick up drinks from the bartender, etc. This might not be the best option for a pre-show meal in the future considering I spent almost $500 for two to attend the show and the buffet. I would recommend they update their website to reservations are required if they are not going to sit patrons in...
Read moreWe have season tickets to DSM and normally eat here before the show. Service is good. Reservations are required. Normally food is delicious. The salad bar and dessert bar are always great. The beef carving station is usually good. However, the past two times we have gone we have noticed a decline in the other main course options and sides, and the dining room has been hot to where diners were fanning themselves. Main course Protein Portions have been cut in half, chicken and fish have been overcooked and dry to the point of being inedible. The food for Miss Saigon was horrible, there could been so many options for Asian inspired food but they completely missed the mark. Even their Asian salad bar dishes were horrible. I really hope they get it together and return to their previous quality. We are very disappointed and hope they figure out what is going on in their kitchen soon or we won't be back. Maybe hire someone who can cook chicken , fish, and pork would be...
