The Preston is excellent assisted living care. Because of complications from neurological disease, I entered AL a generation early. Before I got to the Preston of the Park Cities, I had a very bad year finding a place to live. Due to a combination of persistent infections, unfortunate circumstances, a lack of prior knowledge about assisted living, and a lack of any prior knowledge or family experience with SNF and AL facilities, I had the misfortune to live in six such facilities, in 14 months beginning January 2022, all of them, poor quality by comparison. They were places that left me feeling very dark about my future prospects, I could not find a sense of peace or satisfaction or enjoyment in my soul. âIs this all there is?â Was a question that I asked myself and others over and over. Not until I arrived at the Preston in the Park Cities did I find something starkly different: Attitude: the vibe here consistently remains positive, optimistic and hopeful, on behalf of each resident and their particular misfortune that took them out of their home, which required assisted living. Food: The approach to food is revolutionary in many respects; always many more options on each daily menu some are down home cooking, many are with an obvious, chef, inspired flair, plus a variety of more standard simpler meals, always available, the menu is obviously planned to create healthful diet alternatives. In short, food, here is extraordinary, especially by comparison with other AL facilities; each meal is fresh food with no evidence of cutting corners. Caregivers: In my experience at the Preston, the caregiver staffers are consistently of a higher quality than the caregivers at other places, specifically involving attitude, skill, kindness, task memory, and the ability to anticipate/plan. The facility is newer much quieter than most, very little wear and tear They do an excellent job with activities, supported by a large number of staff, who interact personally with the residents and participate in the games and activities. Which makes the game or activity more accessible to a resident with greater needs and giving a cheerful presence to the activity. Universally, and all six of the other locations that I saw, this job got delegated to one person, frequently overworked/overtaxed, while the rest of the staff hid inside their offices. In summary, the Preston fulfills the promise of personally caring for those of us that need assistance to a greater degree than I wouldâve thought possible, particularly after my disappointing introduction to SNFs and ALs. The managerial staff here promotes and models to everyone on the staff a level of compassion, competency empathy, especially appreciate by direct contrast with my prior AL/SNF experiences. The cost here is no more than I was paying at much lesser AL facilities. I recommend that any person, considering an AL facility, insist on eating a meal at the place they are considering/interviewing; I wish I had done that previously. I am confident that the food and atmosphere here will commend you to the Preston, and that the other places, will...
Read moreMy mom was one of the original residents when The Preston of the Park Cities opened. Our 4 plus years experiences could not be more glowing ! The buildings compassion in helping mom transition from her home in Florida and coping with my dads death was incredible . She quickly (though The Prestonâs gently watch )gained confidence and great enjoyment of her apt, living alone, and new making friends. I NEEDED to have my mom live in same town as me to have more fulfilling and watchful eye as she aged . My reasons for selecting this community (from a couple of more well known in Dallas ). I hope this is helpful to those who are fretting about making a choice for loved one. Design of the property The building is easy for residents to navigate. The main level is so chic and smartly designed . It has a greeting desk, a bar, Main Dinning room (with two beautifully private dinning rooms ) Along with gym, Salon, locker rooms. It also turns into the Thursday afternoon space for incredible music from wonderful entertainers! Each floor has its own color palette to assist in gentle reminder to residents where their home is. Incredible food! The chef and staff are innovating with healthy menu choices and over the top desserts. Lively and attentive activities department planning bingo, exercise classes, flower arranging, movies and current events. They go above and beyond genuinely caring to residents rooms to bring them out to participate. This attention and compassion bleeds into the care providers, nurses, waitstaff, administration, and front desk staff. I always felt my questions and concerns for mom were met openly and quickly.
As my mom Parkinsonâs progress, her health & mind quickly deteriorated. The final reason The Preston was chosen. They are equipped to handle Independent, Assisted, and end of life transitions. My family holds beautiful , not scary , experience of mom dying at her home. We will forever be grateful and close to this community. We feel blessed mom had an amazing life surrounded by people who truly cared and affection for but my...
Read moreI can not begin to adequately express my gratitude for everyone who makes The Preston of the Park Cities an amazing assisted living community. After my dad had a major medical incident, the decision was made to bring both mom and dad to Dallas for what we thought was a temporary stay to regain strength with goal of returning home to independent living. Unfortunately, that did not happened. My dad ended up back in the hospital, then back to The Preston and in less than a year he passed away. The genuine care, compassion, love, attention, respect, assistance and friendship each and every employee provides residents is truly special. From the care providers, nurses and activity leaders to the waitstaff, administration and front desk staff, the care at The Preston is stellar. My parents entered The Preston as a married couple of 57 years who travelled the world with the military and lived a completely independent life since the age of 18. The adjustment to needing care, leaving their home and a perceived loss of independence was daunting. If it had not been for the absolutely wonderful people at The Preston, this transition would not have gone well. Add my dad's continued health issues and decline, it could have been even worse. But, those at The Preston provided genuine care and compassion every step of the way. My dad was able to enter hospice at his apartment at The Preston. During this time and at his passing, the only thing I can say is what the staff did for my family is beyond words. We will forever be grateful. My mom is now living at The Preston solo. She is doing amazing well after the loss of my dad and that is truly because of all who have put their arms around her and helped establish a life for herself. The building is beautiful, food delicious, activities abundant and amenities top notch. Thank you to The Preston for being a blessing to our family and for providing a place where people can receive the assistance needed and live an amazing life surrounded by...
