My oldest went off to Kindergarten this week, which means it’s time to find a new set of activities geared toward my 2 year old toddler! I used the event calendar at orangecountyparentguide.com to plan out today’s trip. We began by trying out the Dana Point Library Toddler Story time at 10:30am, followed by the playtime at 11:00am. They also have a Kindergarten Readiness Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30am. This was my first time at Dana Point Library, and I’ll say as far as libraries go it isn’t my favorite. It definitely felt dated and there wasn’t a play area in the Children’s section. That being said, their children’s librarian Kristen Whipple was amazing! Her program was so much more interactive than other ones we have been too. She had the kids play an eye spy game to find letters around the room, and read books that had songs & activities built in. After Storytime & playtime, we drove 2 minutes to the Salt Creek Beach parking lot, where there was plenty of parking for $1 an hour. Then we headed to Salt Creek Beach Bluff Point, a big grassy area overlooking the beach. The walk was short and stroller friendly (there is a big hill though). When we got close to the beach my son picked out a table and we picnicked while watching the surfers. Afterward we walked along the bluff top a little longer then circled back to the car. I will say, it was quite breezy, so if you do this you might want a jacket or sweater! It was a fun, easy morning and only cost us one dollar! #ocparentguide #danapoint #ocparks #beach #socal

What a beautiful clean family friendly & dog friendly beach access park. No dogs on the beach though. My first time here and with my pup and we'll definitely be back, even though it's 1.5 hours from my home. Highly recommended super clean beach with clean restrooms and a snack snack and showers near the beach. Even the hilly grass park area is a nice place to chill or play a game of basketball on the court. Lots of dogs on leashes of course. I didn't find even one pile of dog poop anywhere. Wow. Impressive. Way to go...

July 6th, Saturday, by 9:30 am, all the tables were taken. There were 3 big parties. 1 party came at 5 am and took like 8 tables. That party also likes to sing loudly. The grass is clean. The parking filled up by 11 am. The bathroom at the parking lot only has 1 stall. The bathroom near the restaurant has like 4. The beach water is very very sandy. The sand is fine so gets everywhere and the showers...

One of the best spots to chill. You can get your family and friends along for a picnic. Lots of place to sit on the grass, bbq areas and picnic benches if you walk down towards the beach.

Big enough parking lot and the parking fee is just $1 per hour I think.

You can bring your dogs along to chill with you and take a nice walk but they are not allowed...
