Amazing value for the area. Right next to the beach. Quality rivals nearby restaurants. My family stayed near the beach recently. Ate here 3 times.

Chilaqiluiles were done with green sauce (yes!). They were a tiny bit spicy for my taste, but were otherwise fantastic. That over easy egg yolk burst and helped cut through the spice. Amazing. 4.5 out of 5

Chicken tenders are pretty good. The fries were really good. My wife and 3 year old son were sold on the entire place and coming back due to these. Glad we did come back. 4 out of 5.

Breakfast burrito was top notch. All the bacon in everything is thick cut and just barely crispy. Just past chewy. Perfect for us. 4.5 of 5.

BLTA was one of the best sandwiches anywhere. 4.5 of 5. Bacon, avocado, thick tomato, lettuce, toasted sourdough, garlic aioloi? Amazing. The bread was a little toastier than I'd prefer. But that was fixed with..

The breakfast sandwich was everything the BLTA was except it added an egg with just barely runny yoke (amazing) and traded the crunchy sourdough for a croissant. This was a 5 out of 5.

The berry smoothie was also very good, but not blended all the way through. Frozen berries at the bottom. 4 of 5.

Açai Parfait. I spend over 2 years in Brazil and am not a huge fan of Americanized Açai. However this was very good. Granola, blueberries, shredded coconut, walnuts, banana. Appeared to probably have a touch of lime in the açai. The Açai was thick (big plus). 4.5 of 5.

Service was great (thank you for helping us so much Xander). Packed us up to go a couple times really well, which made the hike back up the bluff easier. 5 of 5.

Location is 2 minute walk from the sand. 5 of 5.

We...

Young’s Beach Shack at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point is a fantastic spot to grab a bite while enjoying one of Southern California’s most picturesque beaches. The location is unbeatable, right on the edge of Salt Creek Beach, offering panoramic ocean views that make any meal feel like a beachside picnic.

The food here is surprisingly decent for a beach shack, with a good variety of options to choose from. They serve classic beach fare like burgers, fish & chips, tacos, fries, and refreshing beverages. If you’re craving something sweet, their ice cream is a perfect treat on a warm day. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the prime beachfront location.

There’s a fair amount of seating available, so you can comfortably enjoy your meal while soaking in the incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. Whether you choose to sit under the shaded areas or prefer to catch some sun, the setting adds a special touch to your dining experience.

What makes Young’s Beach Shack stand out is not just the convenience of having food right by the beach, but also the quality and service. The staff are friendly and efficient, making sure you get your food quickly so you can get back to enjoying the beach.

Another plus is the cleanliness of the area. Even with the beach traffic, the shack and surrounding seating areas are well-maintained. They also provide trash bins, which helps keep the beach clean and inviting for everyone.

Young’s Beach Shack is a must-visit if you’re spending the day at Salt Creek Beach. It’s the perfect spot to refuel with good food and drinks without having to leave the stunning ocean...

Takes the beach shack vibe to a whole new level. Location is 5-star. Service is 5-star. Food is 4-star. Take this all with a grain of sand as it is the beach and an amazing beach at that in the shadow of the Ritz-Carlton overlooking Salt Creek Beach. Excellent use of recycled materials for bowls, cups, flatware (wood). Also need trash cans for recycled materials. One friendly piece of advice is when serving draft beer and using the Ball aluminum cups which are great for keeping things cool, you do have to expect that when you pour the beer the head will fill up a fair portion of the cup - so you need to pour more beer or else, like for me, you receive a 7-8 oz beer vs. the 12 oz draft I paid for. Expect prices comparable to a nice lunch in the city not beach shack prices but far below the Ritz. Long live ocean views, dolphins swimming, and fresh...

I'm ready the complaints in the comments and they all seem ridiculous. They don't cut your burrito in half for you? Are you disabled? The ingredients was weird on the AV toast? It's called "flavor". The women in front of my in line was a nightmare customer. I see how obnoxious the clientele is here. I had a great time. It was busy but my food still came out at a reasonable time and me and my hubby scored a great seat with an amazing view. My chilaquiles was huge for $13 and I couldn't finish it. My ipa was on point. My hubby did wish his burger was bigger but then he didn't finish his side - so we were both satisfied with our $40 lunch. In this day and age that's just how much things cost. I can't wait to come back here. I hope it's open next time I visit that beach. (Shuttle bus up the hill for the full and lazy. How cute is that?)
