Beach Hut Deli — Restaurant in Dana Point

Placed an online order back on October. I was advised that the order would be ready at a specific time, so I arrived at the time it said my order would be ready by… to only find out it wasn’t ready and that my order wasn’t “approved”. They use some weird system for their orders. The online system was very unorganized and confusing as well.

I waited for my order to then only get home and see that they messed up my order. How can you mess up a simple sandwich? ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WASN’T EVEN BUSY. Like get it together back there.

So I callback and spoke with some lady and stated she would refund me… it’s now November and still haven’t received a refund, so I call back to see if I could get a remade sandwich or the refund I was told I would get. I was advised to call back tomorrow because the owner isn’t in. If you are going to fix a problem don’t create another problem. How unprofessional… at this point I’m just annoyed with place. I was better off getting a sandwich from Board & Brew. I’m definitely not missing out on anything special from this subpar place with subpar...

Update: 5 stars all the way. Great sandwiches. Love the crispy bacon. You folks do a great job!!

Nice staff at the front desk (dude named Adam. Folks in the kitchen are a bit serious and angry it seems, but that’s ok - kitchen folks don’t need to talk to customers usually).

It’s mainly a tourist hangout for guests of the Ritz Carlton nearby who are tired of paying $31 for a turkey sandwich there and walk here instead. Take-out took 30 min at 3pm on a random Sunday due to a long line of (drunk) hotel guests who decided lunch happens at 3pm after their buffet breakfasts in the morning were wearing off.

Nevertheless the sandwiches are good here and the beer is cold! I like the vibe and the quality of their crisp fresh produce on the sammys. Bread is super soft and not at all crispy or toasted - so make sure you’re ok with that.

I’m a local but still go and recommend it. Worth going just be prepared for lines of tourists sometimes. (FYI, if you are $$ conscious, do not go here. It’s pricey for what you get but that comes with the address being on Ritz...

Nice employees, but that is where it ends. My husband and I went into your deli for the first time, and were not sure it was what we wanted. We were really wanting crusty bread, but decided, because of the recommendation of your people, to get your sandwich on toasted bread, that we would order. We ordered two turkey sandwiches to go. We arrived at our destination and opened the sandwiches to find one turkey, one tuna, and neither with toasted bread. What a total disappointment. We called to speak to a manager, but there wasn't one on site, even though the cash register girl was on her first day at work. She used that as her excuse, and that was that. Maybe I get a mistake of tuna vs turkey (must be on the cash register keyboard), but all the talk about the bread and still not toasted. Sheesh. What a disappointment. We even went over the order with her. Never again. Oh..by the way, the tuna was...
