De Pere Auto Center — Attraction in De Pere

I've not had the luxury of easy access to a reputable, clean, respectful and knowledgeable mechanic for a number of years until I moved to De Pere and De Pere Auto Center was the first and has been the only mechanic I have utilized since becoming a local. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and quick with a joke or small talk if you're the kind of person to appreciate that sort of thing. All of the loaner vehicles are extremely clean and much newer than you'd expect based on my experience with other establishments, which is a wonderful perk. I've dropped a fair bit of coin on various vehicle repairs, including an older F350 that I had for a few years and when I finally got to the point where I was considering selling the truck, I was able to talk closely with my mechanic at DPAC about my options and what he'd do in my situation and he provided me a very honest and informed answer. I'm a very difficult person to please when it comes to my vehicle upkeep and maintenance, but I can honestly say that I've never left DPAC feeling like I had been had or that I didn't receive the best service possible. I recommend them to any friends or family who might be considering changing mechanics and I would honestly recommend them to you as well. Some of the repairs and services might be a little pricier than you'll find at a few other establishments, but I find the extra cost to be more than worth the piece of mind I get every time I drive one of my vehicles home from their garage. In my opinion, you can't do better than De Pere Auto Center in this area. Give them a try if you're uncertain about your current mechanic. As for their used car lot, I've never purchased a vehicle from them yet, but everything they stock seems to be newer, well taken care of vehicles for the most part. I would drive past De Pere Auto on the way home from work everyday until one day a vehicle caught my eye. I stopped in to look at upgrading my vehicle I had back in 2010. Phil was very helpful in working with me in every step of the buying process from trade in to financing options. I drove that "almost new" SUV off the lot extremely happy with my purchase.

Fast forward 5 years (Sept 2015) while driving home I spotted the exact SUV we were looking to upgrade my wife's vehicle to sitting on their lot. I stopped in and talked to Mike who let me take my whole family (kids, carseat and all) on a test drive to see how we liked it. Needless to say, we loved it!!! We traded in my wife's old SUV and took our second De Pere Auto purchase home. 3 months later (Dec 2015) that new SUV was in an accident in which the whole front end was taken off. I called De Pere Auto first thing while at the scene. They sent a tow truck to give a tow back to their body shop. De Pere Auto worked with my insurance and made this event less stressful than it originally was. While the SUV was being repaired they let us use a loaner vehicle which was suited for my family (not just a tiny car). The day we got the car back it looked as good if not better than the day we first bought it off the lot. You would NEVER be able to tell it was in an accident. Hats off to the body shop guys!!!

Since my wife had the vehicle she was looking for I got the "itch" to get myself a new car. Again, while driving home I spotted the large SUV that I have wanted for quite sometime. The guys gave me a great trade value on the car that I originally bought from them and made the purchase the smoothest yet. My family loves our new fleet of Honda SUVs from De Pere Auto and we will be back I'm sure for a 4th sometime down the road. Moral of the story: I just need to keep taking the same route...

Not five stars anymore. They put new struts on my Toyota RAV 4 last year. Thought everything was good until we took it to a mechanic closer to home because it was making a rattling noise. This mechanic went through it carefully and found that the nuts/screws that are on top of the struts to hold them in place were not even tightened!! He said he could maneuver them both easily with just his hand. That’s not cool. Also still having issues with the brakes that they fixed last year - brand new pads and rotors, you would think the brakes would be very touchy and stop almost on a dime. Nope. Had to take the vehicle back to them shortly after getting it back because the brake pedal was still going almost to the floor. They bled the brakes lines and it was a little better for a while, but still not where it should have been, and now we are having issues again. I reached out and they want to charge us to inspect them. These parts are less than a year old. There should not be that much wear on them already. I will not be taking my vehicles back there again. It’s not acceptable to “forget” to do something like tightening screws on parts when it comes to auto repairs- that’s a huge safety issue and there’s no excuse for it.
