Staples Decatur, Al. 35603 5/20/2024 My visit today was terrible. Went inside store, no employees anywhere in site, except for the printing department. (2) Present I walked over to see if I could get some help finding an item online said was in stock. Apparent manager I spoke with said no employees showed up for work today. Asked her help finding the product. She briefly walked to the section of the store where the item was located. I told her again what the item was. She pulled her phone out, not really sure if she actually looked the item up??? She said they didn't have it,and walked away. I pulled it up on my phone, walked to where she went and showed it to her. She reluctantly walked back over to the section and pointed, and left again. I again asked her to help me find it, since there was like 50 or so items that looked exactly like what I wanted. It was priced like 5-6 dollars more than the 1 hr. Pickup price online stated. She said that online and store are 2 different companies. That the price on the shelf the price. Went to the check out, she said she could adjust the price a little. I said ok, let me order the product online for the 1 hr. Pickup, and she said let me just save so trouble for us both. She slapped the product on the checkout, and the began to ring it up. She was rude, complaining that employees don't show up, ect. Ect. I paid, and she was still on her mini rant. 3 customers total in the entire store. 2 employees visible. I basically said, I see why no employees show up for work now. If 2 people mgr. Included can't handle 3 customers, why even have the doors open. Sad to say this, but nobody seemed to care that a customer spending their hard earned cash in that store was ....
For an office/school supply place it's okay. They don't carry a lot of things to furnish an office and the things they do are very expensive! He cheapest office chair this particular store has in stock is $380. That's very cost prohibitive for someone trying to create a small desk space for a child to do homework or someone trying to outfit a dorm room. The building is badly in need of an update, and the floor has long ago seen better days. The ancient industrial flourescent lighting makes everything look sad and depressing like an office building decked out in the late 70's. This store should invest in a bit of a decor upgrade to push into the high end look that their customers expect to see when forking out huge amounts of money on things that cost far less...
Read moreLooked up to see if printer cartridge in stock locally, it was @ $48.99 In store, Decatur, AL, inks scattered all over, no sensible order, but finally found. Was on a hook showing $61.99 !! At register, it rang up higher price, clerk challenged, saying, "what you see on-line, even if you choose the Decatur location, has nothing to do with our prices! We are a TOTALLY SEPERATE COMPANY, this store has NOTHING to do with that website." What a crock. Considering posting on social media and see if others have been told similar, will make a good class action lawsuit! Had to "ask for the manager" before she agreed to 'match the on-line price'. This whole encounter seems...
