GameStop — Local services in Decatur

Went to trade in a ps4 today for some extra cash that had been sitting collecting dust, the power button no longer worked. (I called ahead to see if they still take trade ins if the console didn’t turn on and they said yes, no other policies were explained as to why it could or couldn’t be taken at this time). Upon arrival I walk in hand over the console, cords, controller, and 1 game to a young gentleman . The “manager” is a few feet away (on the phone with her husband at the time on speaker but proceeds to put her headphones in to hear him better). The young gentleman looked over my console, asked a few questions about storage, turned it over and gently tapped it a couple times (apparently this is a policy to ensure there isn’t excessive dust or bugs in the console and I 100% understand) however they don’t tell you that when you call to ask about a trade in that doesn’t work (hey btw make sure there’s not dust or maybe a moth that was attracted to the light in there 😅) and guess what THERE WAS A FEW PIECES OF DUST/DEBRIS that the gentleman looked over and approved himself that was only debri. He then calculated my total, asked for my GameStop account phone number, told me about their card special that was running, asked if I wanted cash or store credit, I replied cash and then asked for my ID to finalize purchase. Only then did the “manager” walk over, ask if the console had a disk in it (I was unsure since the console didn’t turn on), she ripped the top off to see if she could unscrew it to check for a disk, at this time she hit it upside down again, and once again a few tiny pieces of dust fall to the counter. She bends over and inspects the dust from 2 inches away, and says that the dust is actually a leg of a bug. The gentleman leans over and says ehhhh I didn’t really see any body parts or anything when I looked just seemed like dirt to me, she then proceeds to say oh no that’s a leg of a bug and the gentleman (beside who I assume is his manager) looks uncomfortable and eventually agrees with the manager saying it could have been a leg of a bug. They then immediately bag all my things up and hand it back over saying they can’t take it. I could see if a wing, or a full bug, or even a completely legible body part came out of the console where they may not be able to take it. But to disassemble my console, come over to the other employee who was finalizing my purchase/trade in already, and insist that a couple pieces of dust and debri were BUGS, all while yapping on the phone to your man, doesn’t seem like a good manager nor a good salesperson to me. Mind you she was trying to not sell a little boy who came in with his grandmother something becuase “she didn’t think he’d like it or it would work like he wanted” then asked her husband on the phone (who apparently knows more) what he thought and he said the opposite that it would work for exactly what the little boy wanted and they bought it anyways. She seems to be giving her own input and opinion into her job instead of pleasing the customers or managing the store correctly. So 0/10 won’t trade in anything else there or probably return to the store. If I have any advice for you it’s this Don’t you dare let a single moth or fly ever fly near your console light it may get stuck and never ever again be able to be traded in. (Unless of course you completely disassemble it and spray every spec of debri out) As a young mother myself, who could have used some extra cash for gas, I’d recommend to not head to GameStop to trade in consoles you or your kids don’t...

I've taken things here in the past to sell and had no issues. I go here all of the time with my fiance for the past 6 years and love it. However, yesterday I took my Nintendo switch on my own to see what I could get for it. The man at the counter looked it over and told me the price, without explaining why. I had to ask why so low. He explained because my switch screen was scratched. I said no sir that's the screen protector, it's tempered glass. He was friendly about it but then proceeded to PEEL off the protector BEFORE testing the console. He then said one of the joycons slid off too easily because of a broken part that holds it in place, so he still had to keep it at the low price. Okay, fair. He suggested places I could try to sell it. The reason I'm upset isnt because of the price, it's because he took off my screen protector and did not offer to replace it. I know GameStop employees don't get paid that much but geez, I don't either, and all the more reason to understand I can't just keep buying new screen protectors. Otherwise I wouldn't be trying to sell my console in the first place. I will not be returning and will be telling my friends and family not to go to this location. Terrible customer service. Went into the store today with my son looking for a PS4 remote. Asked Ashlyn at the front desk if they sold used PS4 remotes and was told no they did not have any, both associates had been talking amongst themselves and were visibly irritated that I asked them a question. I then walked over the to shelf and grabbed a box for a new PS4 remote and went to the counter to pay for it. I was told that was an empty box. Okay...why do you keep empty boxes on the shelf?? I asked if she had remotes and she responded I already told you no. My response to her was, you said you did not have used remotes. She then mumbled some inappropriate words under her breath and when I asked what she said she back tracked. I have never experienced such terrible customer service ever and it was very disappointing especially having my son with me. My son had been saving up money to make this purchase and was very excited to make the purchase in your store. We shop in this store on a regular basis, but based upon this visit we will not...
