Cute used bookstore, strange patrons. Last time I was there I had to flag a police officer as a angry man was making threatning comments, rambeling, while seated at a computer for over 30 minutes saying he "wanted to die for god" etc. I literally had to exit with my session and work incompleted, notify staff and vacate. The time before that, I was on my phone outside, and a mom drove up, 30 minutes after closing looking for her 12 year old daughter. Like parents use it as a babysitting service. Um... where was the daughter? They locked up and went home. Shady as F. It is also unsafe because not only do they treat us like children, as all the computer monitors are facing the staff, our backs are turned to the 1 exit, so it is very un-natural layout. I don't like the one on Atantic either as there is a large homeless congregation loitering. If you have the gas money, or time to ride a bus to another location, could be better. I love Broward, but this is not quality standards of excellence. I would love to see some improvments. This location is a small lot, being close to the beach, but there is an empty field next door, it has potential to be iconic, and a real asset. Maybe a coastal theme instead of the juvenille rainforest mural that has nothing to do with Florida. It needs a minor or major renovation. The hours are more suited for the unemployed. Maybe I'm just irritated that I paid $25 in fines, hhhhhhh. No, I am mad that there was a crazy person causing a disturbance and staff did nothing. At the very least they need a facelift, like the outside is hard to see the sign, very blah building color, and then random pop art like a sculpture or a carpet, and then like beige every where else. It looks neglected. Just add some blue and teal and tie in the theme, actually there are like 3 mismatched themes. The lobby has a fake crustmas tree. It's all random. Like this would never go down in wilton manors, hhh. Like get some interior design students and a grant. Paint the building yellow. I'm not even sure what material the exterior is, it was probably modern in 1970. Florida living is classy, multi cultural, fun. I mean make it manatee and sea turtle themed, pink flamingo or ibis, egret, or gator. Something. It could be a sea shell. The building is a faded iridescent. Oh and what is up with the wall art? I feel like this library is an episode of the twilight zone and time travel. This is 2017, right. I mean if you want "old florida" do old maps and a kids theme of exploration and globes and longitide latitude. Maybe black and white picures of deerfield in 1950. Because you know, for just like.... 2,500$ and 1 designer, it could be a place to rave about to friends. The collection of minature houses, in glass. It's creepy halloween. Put some glass animals. now that i think about it, there are like 7 themes, and a circle to sit and read. That should be the childs area. Oh, and the dumpster is visible. The whole place is like an afterthought. Oh, and after 1 year of going there, i should know who Percy white is. ???????????? Libraries are independent study classrooms. You know, they are the heart and soul of intellectualism. But i havn't gained anything new except that the lobby is littered with flyers. I mean if that plastic christmas tree has like insect ornaments, or letter blocks, entymology or zoology, like a giant mosquito at the top and mini cans of off hanging for zika virus awareness, that would be something. Or a sea shell tree in hanakah colors. I feel like this place is a hand me down. And the carpet. It swirls. It's blue and green. I am so confused. Why are...
Read moreWe come here for miss ANDREA!!! she is running the most amazing story time. I bring my kids evey Monday for past 4 years. Story time starts with a book reading then songs, dance and bubbles. Miss Andea who runs story time is absolutely wonderful and passionate about her job. She treats all kids and parents like family. Everyone is welcomed. There are instruments and fun dance. My kids absolutely loves it. We only miss it if we sick or out of town. Story time has become a big part of our lifes. My kids made their friends here and I made many "mom" friends over the years as well. After Story time there is nice and large kids area with puzzles and few toys and kids computers. We love you miss Andrea ;) Bella and Mila
Only suggestion would be to SEPARATE kids area from adults. Kids are loud and it's very difficult to keep them quiet next to adult area (...
Read moreCHILDREN ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!! My wife came home crying her eyes out because of employee rudeness. My child ran into an area with a jungle theme and got yelled at by one of the staff. Then threatened to ban my child from the library. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE!! I will NEVER come here again!
The military taught me there is a solution for every problem so here it is....Broward PLEASE build a library just for kids (and parents) only where all kids are welcome so they can be kids and learn at the same time! Including children that are autistic, disabled, or are learning English. It can be divided into sections, one section for teens, one for pre-K kids, etc. Maybe after school studing. That way the grumpy adults that want complete silence can go to Percy White! This will be better for the employees as well so then they can decide which...
