Point Douglas Park — Attraction in Denmark Township

This is probably the best and biggest beach in Twin Cities area on the spectacular St Croix River right before Mississippi River swallows it under the lifting bridge. There’s a small, more private beach on the other side of the St Croix River.

Clean water, unrealistic views, plenty of grills and tables, meter parking.

The downtown Prescott offers plenty of food options. Although my favorite is Enrique’s Taco place next to Subway, it’s probably the closest place to the park. It’s a bit small, but food - tacos, burritos, fajitas- is delicious.

There’s a trail that starts here and will take you about 5-6 miles along Mississippi River to Hastings.

This is officially a Minnesota state park and as such you need a Minnesota state parking pass. There is plenty of parking. Bathrooms are reasonably clean for beach bathrooms. They have a volleyball net, tables for picnics and grill stations. There is also a walkway and sidewalk from the beach in Minnesota to downtown Prescott, Wisconsin. The trail also will lead 3 miles back to downtown Hastings, MN as well.

It's a lovely park no matter what time of year you visit. We love to go on the summer and take a picnic while the kids play and swim at the beach. There are plenty of picnic tables. There is a bathhouse with restrooms, showers and changing areas that is well maintained.
