After hiking, we asked some people at the park office at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park if they could suggest a place in Prescott for lunch. In unison, they all three said "Muddy Waters".
And their advice was right on target. The food was fast and delicious. Our server (Bre') was friendly, helpful and professional. We could not have asked for better food or service.
My wife had the BLT and split pea soup and she proclaimed it the "best split pea soup she's had in years". I was torn between burger and healthy and I somehow managed to decide on healthy, ordering the Muddy Waters salad (essentially a chef's salad). But I was more than happy with my choice as the salad was very good (better than most).
I would have given the place 5 stars but for one reason.
The hostess seated us in one of the worst locations I've ever experienced. A tiny booth in the middle of way too much traffic and activity. It was right in the middle of a server station and a walk-through area between the front and back of the restaurant (where the restrooms were located). Heavy traffic and a narrow way plus tiny booths and a lot of noise made it a horrible table.
At first I didn't say anything because the place was busy so I figured this was the only booth available. But when I discovered four empty tables in a quiet back room with a river view I wasn't very happy with the hostess. I understand seating people in a lousy spot if that's all you have. I don't understand why you'd seat someone there when you have much nicer tables available.
We did end up sitting in the quiet back room but only because I asked and our server was nice enough to move us. If the food and service hadn't been above average I doubt we'd return here. But with restaurants, as with most of life, no experience is perfect. And Bre' and the kitchen team impressed us enough that we'll gladly return with friends.
Maybe then I'll try a...
Read moreMy sister and myself took my cousin and husband for a "Thank You" dinner for her hospitality. Cousin ordered the Thai lettuce wrap. When it arrived, she found a piece of ginger, which was fine. But on the other side of the plate, found a piece of raw chicken. She took it to the only person she could find, the Hostess, who said "Are you sure that isn't ginger?" Well, it was thick, ginger is very thin, ginger has a specific texture and smell. The chicken was thick and had no "ginger" smell. The hostess took it away and asked if she wanted something different, which my cousin DID NOT. No one else came to the table after that, not to ask if anyone wanted anything else, another beer, glass of wine, or refill of water. When the waitress brought the bill, she is the ONLY one that apologized, 2 or 3 times, but did say "We took that meal off the bill, all of it, and gave her a free drink". I was shocked that she said "All of it", considering she ate NONE of it, that was a given, I would have thought. As we left, the hostess gave my cousin a snide, dirty look, and said NOTHING. Cousin and husband will NOT be back, neither will I or my sister, as we are both out of state. It made us wonder, how many plates had been near or touching raw chicken?? The rest of us did have grilled chicken in our meals. It was one of the most disgusting experiences I've ever had at a restaurant and would NEVER suggest this "restaurant/pub" to anyone. And WILL be contacting the...
Read moreMet a girlfriend here for brunch, was asked by the hostess if we were eating and just having cocktails, I stated I’d like to look at the menu. Once seated we had Nancy M as a server who put our mimosa order in then proceeded to ask if we were eating. I said we’ve decided to just have drinks as nothing caught my eye on the menu. She made big deal about this being for lunch patrons by atleast they werent too busy right now. She did not check on us one time, my friend caught eye contact with her and pointed saying she wanted to order another mimosa which nancy acknowledged but then clearly forgot about as it had been over 15 minutes and when my friend caught her eye again and motioned to her drink she shook head then mouthed order mimosa. After time progressed she brought one out didnt apologize or ask if we needed anything at all and walked away. Once we were totally out of water and mimosas both placed on the edge of the table with our cc out, we asked a hostess if they could have her bring a bill and water...still never came. Finally went to the bar to pay our bill. Nancy moraculouly showed up and printed our bill, not until she saw my friend lindsay writing a note on her bill did she even offer a apology. The bartender then made fun of the situation were she just laughed. Both of us have backgrounds of hospitality management and were truley disappointed with our service. Definitely will consider the other options next time we...
