I went here a year ago and the food was pretty good and the interior was really nice. Coming back recently for my birthday was a disappointment. The interior has turned dingey with cracked leather seats and smelled strongly of fish. The smell and fact they were completely empty at noon on a Saturday should have been my clue to leave. We were first given outdated and dirty menu's with items they didn't have causing confusion when ordering.

We ordered several dishes and all were under seasoned and seemed old or reheated. The beef sukiyaki had almost no meat or onions and all white rice. The meatballs were disgusting and rubbery. The duck pasta was passable except that the noodles were already getting cold. Seasoned vegetables were mainly the exact same cauliflower we had ordered for an appetizer.

Won't be coming be coming back. I'm not really sure why the reviews are so high here. Just go to Thai on the Square behind this place or Komodo if you're craving Asian food...

This is a great spot for vegans, vegetarians, and gluten free-ans!

We ordered:

✨Spinach Potstickers - even though we aren’t vegan/vegetarian, these were great and I would get again. I do recommend eating this last though, because it’s a bolder flavor with the soy sauce that might alter how your next dish tastes!

✨Vietnamese Beef Meatball - I think I would’ve liked this better if I had it before the Spinach Potstickers. It’s a mild meatball dish enough to share. The pickled veggies that went with it were good!

✨Beef Bowl Thai Sukiyaki - this was a good flavor. Just a little kick of spice to it, but another unique option to consider sharing.

✨And we got a complimentary sample of the Thai Street Nut Mix - a great snack with a kick!

Next time, we want to try:

➡️ Creamy Scallop & Shrimp Noodle dish

➡️ Chicken Lettuce Wrap

➡️ Turmeric Roasted Cauliflower

We can’t wait...

The food is outstanding here and the reviews are accurate in that regard. I just wanted to take a moment and rave on the customer service.

I placed an order for pickup this evening and upon exiting my car, I left my key and my phone inside and was locked out. The woman serving the register was PHENOMENAL! I explained my situation to her and that I had no way of contacting anyone to unlock my car. She used her phone to look online and find a locksmith for me and allowed me to use the business phone to reach out to them. I had my toddler with me and she offered him some snacks from their snack bowl to entertain him while I waited over 45 minutes for resolve. She consistently checked in with me and conversed to ease some of my nerves and help out where she could. What a wonderful human! This place will ALWAYS have my support. For great food and even better people!...

We traveled to Denton to look at colleges and decided to try this spot out for dinner. We had a vegan and two omnivores in our group. We all enjoyed our meals. We had the spinach potstickers with tofu, shrimp tempura bowl, brocliflower dish with plant-based chicken added, and the mus sa mun pot pie with shredded chicken. Everything was great. My daughter that had the shrimp tempura dish said it was a bit heavier than expected, but she still ate every bite. My daughter that had the brocliflower with the plant based chicken loved it. Said she would have it again. I had the pot pie, and it was very flavorful and not too spicy (you can adjust the spiciness to your liking). The potstickers were delicious. All in all, it was a good meal. We will definitely return if my kids go to college in Denton! :-)

To say we were happy with our experience would be a massive understatement. I originally made a 12 top reservation that turned into a 27 person surprise birthday celebration. Coming from being a catering manager myself, planning a private event with PJ was easy and fun! PJ even worked with me on my budget and was accommodating in every aspect. They were truly a sparkling delight to work with and made me, our guests, and the birthday boy feel extremely special. The menu, served family style, was comforting and delicious. Highlight was definitely the Crab Claw Curry and the tender duck noodles. The space feels elevated yet comfy. Taan is definitely a place you’d call a hidden gem of Denton. Thank you to PJ and their team for making our evening special and one of our more treasured celebrations.
