Do not go here, even though the ice is nice and not super bad the people, ice maintenance and the cleanliness is horrible here.
Let me start with the ice maintenance: some times they zam the ice and sometimes they don’t. There is this one guy that never does the ice due to his laziness, one day he yelled at everyone to get off the ice just to circle the ice to make it look like he did something. Then he goes to the front desk and pouts to the person at the front desk about how someone shot one puck after opening the door.
The prices: oh the prices, they expect you to pay $17 an hour (with membership) and somewhere around $23 $24 dollars an hour (without membership) for the ice to be cut up from the previous stick and puck. It’s not different when going to the public skates (sometimes they go multiple times 2 hours each without zaming the ice)
The cleanliness: people say it’s clean, which I believed for going here for 2 or more years. But recently I was sitting on one of the benches and I saw the cleaning lady use the same mop that she was cleaning the floor with to clean the benches in the main lobby.
The people: most of the people here use no effort in their job besides one of the zam drivers that usually whears the coveralls. And the one front desk guy that has the team USA jacket. And also the one guy with the red vest. But everyone else puts minimum effort into their job to be paid 20-22 dollars an hour.
Conclusion: you would be better off going to south suburban or edge, it’s way cheaper and you don’t get stared at by everyone when you are skating like your doing something wrong. They do have absolutely adorable service dogs though and good ice, it’s not as hard as south suburbans ice.
Edit: I know who ever goes though the reviews for big bear says that people are not telling the truth and lieing, but this is %100 truthfull. I wish I had videos and pictures but my phone was always dead when I see these...
Read moreI recently visited Big Bear Ice Arena and was blown away by their exceptional customer service and the variety of programs they offer. From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and eager to help with anything I needed. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or a beginner, their team goes above and beyond to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
The programs that Peter Cardasis coach’s at Big Bear Ice Arena are top-notch. They have something for everyone—figure skating, hockey leagues, and even learn-to-skate classes for all ages. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient, making it a perfect place for anyone looking to improve their skills or just have fun on the ice.
The facility itself is clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. I highly recommend Big Bear Ice Arena to anyone in the area looking for great skating programs and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be back!
Want to take a second to mention how good Alex takes care of everyone and everything at the rink. Talk to him a lot while I’m there and he’s always so kind and helpful. Does a great job keeping the ice in...
Read moreI’ve been the captain of the D3 team Denver Yetis for 4 years here. I’m leaving this review because the hockey manager (Pete) and rink owner (Vassiliy) aren’t responding to email or phone. Happy to change to 5 star if someone will respond and honor promises they have made to captains of adult league teams. Specifically:
The promise to brand teams by their chosen names on websites and rankings (teams that have played for years and have branded gear are being referred to by color) we asked for this 16 days ago.
The promise to limit rosters to 17 players. There are currently teams with 19 players and 2 goalies. How is an adult league team supposed to play with 2 goalies? Check out D3 Bear Pink for an example.
Communication of free agent info to team captains. Some teams had 5+ free agents placed on them but no free agents are showing up to games and subs are not allowed. Please share free agent info or allow subs, otherwise captains cannot reliable manage team sizes and attendance
Again—I’ve had a good experience working with the management of this league in the past and am hoping that recent (good) changes are just making...
