I’ve been coming here since I was a kid after moving up to Colorado from Atlanta Georgia I always liked coming here and seeing the old airplanes and other aircraft that they have here I noticed when I was here on the 23rd of September of this year that this place has changed significantly since I was here ten years ago and that it looks a lot better than when I first started coming here back in the early 2000s and what I mean by that statement is that back then I noticed that the building had a more run down look to it unlike now where it looks more modern but also that was back in the early 2000s the place had been abandoned by the U.S. Air Force a little over 10 years prior I also noticed that some things were missing like the astronaut hanging from the ceiling and the glider that looked like a giant bird I also noticed that the museum is only in one of the two hangars I don’t understand why they didn’t have it in both and build a rectangular building down the center of both buildings connecting them and having an even bigger museum but whatever it doesn’t matter the flight simulator was incredible other than the 12 dollars it cost to ride it the x wing was really cool to see back when I first started coming here I remember there was an older lady who was at the gift shop I don’t remember her name but i always remember her being very friendly with me and my mom And while on that subject the gift shop back then had much better stuff unlike when I went this past time where it looked like it was full of just regular generic stuff you would see at just about any gift shop the only thing that looked appealing to me was the die cast hot wings planes I even bought one of the die cast planes I ended up getting the space shuttle but I guess you don’t go to museums for the gift shops but for the exhibits other than that it was a good experience I bought a. Membership so I’m definitely planning on returning hopefully with my two younger brothers who have never been here before but I know they would enjoy it just as much as I do this place honestly made me remember how much I...
Read moreOn January 16th I joined a family here for a portrait session. Not knowing much about the museum, I was excited to go exploring.
The person I was photographing is intrigued with World War 2 so we wanted to incorporate some of the planes into the photoshoot.
I checked the website to see how much tickets would be, because there was another family who wanted to attend separately.
The website was easy to navigate, and I found a discount through the state for people who would love to expose their children to the history of our country.
The cost of admission for a person who receives food assistance is only $1 and the doors do not open until noon.
Walking around I was amazed. Intrigued really. Everything was on display so nicely. The facility was clean. There was information provided. I was able to learn a bit of history!
However, it wasn't until we were leaving that I really got a lesson.
I stopped in the gift shop to see if I could somehow incorporate a WW2 plane into a gift for the graduate.
The sales agent was very polite and knowledgeable. He spent his time walking me around the store to the displays and explaining the chosen planes and the importance of the roles that were played.
I left Wings Over the Rockies with a little more appreciation for the service and dedication of our countries men and women.
I say thank you again. Next time I will bring...
