We had a very unfortunate experience at Officers Club.
I came in and spoke to the hostess in person on 8/19 because I had some specific needs for a reservation on the 20th. I explained that I needed a table for 5 people that could accommodate a wheelchair, and was looking for a restaurant with a quiet table because I was bringing 3 elderly family members who are hard of hearing. The hostess told me they would hold the table just to the right when you come in, since it was low enough that we could pull a wheelchair up to it and is the quietest corner of the restaurant - this was a perfect solution for us, and we were looking forward to our reservation.
When I arrived for the reservation, there was a man working at the front and I checked in and let him know that we were meant to be seated at that particular table for those reasons. He told me someone was already sitting there. No apology, no attempt to find a solution that would work for us. He told us we could either wait for that group to leave (and told us that they had been there a long time and did not appear to be wrapping up) or sit at the large booth in the middle of the restaurant. So really, the only option was the booth - I had 3 very elderly guests with me, we could not stand for an undetermined amount of time to hope for the table we had reserved.
The host seemed inconvenienced by the fact that we had a wheelchair, and even said something to us about needing us to "keep the wheelchair out of the way" if we were going to sit there since it would be in the walkway. So we took my aunt and her wheelchair to the far side of the table where he wanted her to be. As expected, the booth table was too high for us to pull the wheelchair up to, so we had to physically pull my aunt out of her wheelchair and up into the booth, which was difficult and could have been dangerous. No one offered us any help, or acknowledged the huge inconvenience that we were working around after being assured a specific table that would accommodate us.
We then waited an exceedingly long time to get any service. I don't know what was going on - there were several staff members standing near the bar seemingly doing nothing, but it took probably 15 minutes before anyone even came to our table to greet us. Finally someone came over with water, but we probably waited another 10 minutes before our server actually greeted us, took drink orders, etc.
And as expected, the booth was INCREDIBLY loud. No one at our table could hear anything anyone the others were saying. This was not a surprise, because the hostess that I originally made the reservation with had told me that table was typically quite loud because of it's location in the middle of the restaurant.
So basically I made a reservation based on 2 specific needs, was told they had the perfect table and would be happy to accommodate us, and then was ultimately put in the worst possible table for our group, with no apologies. I'm super embarrassed that I chose this restaurant for our special occasion...
Read moreThe customer service we received at this restaurant was terrible and the way the Manager, Zach, handled the situation was totally unacceptable! We will never go there again and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone else. We had a reservation at 5:30 on Saturday, April 27. We got stuck in traffic leaving downtown so I called ahead to say that we'd be a little late. I was told the reservation would be held for 15 minutes and we arrived within the 15 minutes. I asked to be seated at a booth because there was an empty one right across from where I was standing but the hostess said we could only sit at one of the two very small round tables there. She said we could have the booth across from us when the customers left, but once we sat down at our table I saw that they hadn't even received their food so I knew they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. Our table and chairs didn't sit flat on the floor and rocked back-and-forth, and the chairs leaned so far back that you really couldn't even sit up to eat. We asked for another table somewhere else in the restaurant but were told the only thing available would be next to a birthday party of eight at a high top table. We questioned why we couldn't have the empty booth but were told it was being saved for someone else even though we were already there for our reservation and nobody was sitting in the booth. Apparently, those people were more important than us. We said we were leaving. Having made a reservation we expected the staff to make some kind of effort to seat us at a decent table so when we got home we called the manager. I was shocked at Zach the Manager' attitude. He was rude and argued with us saying the hostess offered us a booth, which is ridiculous because if she had we wouldn't have left. We told him that wasn't true and Zach hung up on us. This is NOT the way you treat customers! Either the wait staff and manager at The Officers Club need customer service training or the restaurant needs new staff. Officers Club gets...
Read moreThe thing that caught us completely off guard was the entree of the southern fried chicken meal for 28$. When it arrived to the table, the delivery boy from the kitchen called it chicken strips and we realized right away that it is JUST CHICKEN STRIPS and french fries. Don’t think you’re getting a southern style half chicken meal or even different pieces of the chicken, no dark meat at all, no leg, or wing, no bones, no flavor. It’s just a super dry chicken breast cut into four strips over-battered, and fried, wish we would of know. (My husbands a southern man, and this is disappointing for its name.) Other than that the dinner was nice, our drinks were on points and the manager even came out and said hello after we made a comment of the chicken strip meal we received.( he didn’t charge us for the chicken strips and returned them to the kitchen) Nice personal touch to visit our table. Try the smoked old fashions. The kale salad was delightful and full of flavor with the honey vinaigrette lightly drizzled about. The Salmon was spectacular, the chief included green beens(not on menu) and topped it with cilantro(not on menu) which gave it an extra touch (like it was made just for me). The sauce with the veggies had a special bite to it, very tasty and inventive, ingeniously crafted with the extra ingredients. Update your menu, it’s a great idea. Super cool environment mostly older couples and family’s alike. Great experience for being a local and living right around the corner. We could of walked back to our house but it was raining. Beautiful romantic environment on the patio with the rain fall, and the lightning. Great TV all around for sports. This place deserves a 5 except for the...
