Seattle Used Appliance — Attraction in Des Moines

Don´t spend your money here! You might think you get a great deal but you don´t. The appliances are in very bad condition and will not work or if at all for not very long. We bought a washing machine and it failed after two weeks, they told us to bring it back, they will repair it and extend the warranty. When we picked it up and it ran for another two weeks just until the first warranty would have expired. The lady told us to bring it in AGAIN and they will honor the extended warranty. Her "boss" is one of the most UNETHICAL people I have ever met. He told us that this kind of washing machine never works for more than 4 weeks but he generously accepts the extended warranty!!! So why would he sell the machines who don´t run in the first place? He told us to pick out another washing machine which we did, which was very difficult as they were all in bad condition. There were only machines left that were $100 less than what we paid. While filling out the paper work he told me that he would always look after his clients, what great of a guy he is and that people kind of worship him as he "fixes them all up". Basically that he is the savior of the world. As soon as I asked him for the refund of the price difference his attitude changed extremely!!!!. He got got very angry and started to threaten me. He told me that he would not owe me anything as he did me a favor to exchange the washing machine without warranty, basically contradicting himself not honoring the extended warranty. So at the end we paid $450 for a very old washing machine that we could have gotten for free or $100 on Craigslist plus we drove 4 times to the place loading and unloading the washing machines. I bought 7 appliances from here for a duplex and after the bad install that we paid $199 for.  (he wanted to leave before he was even done) the first day the washer machine literally went up in smoke. Scared the hell out of the lady as their was lots of smoke, I unhooked and ran it into the driveway for a few hours thinking it might burst into flames. Called the owner and he said he would bring me a replacement but it would be a week. I tried to get an earlier time but he refused. The next day I woke up and the fridge was warming up and all of our food in the freezer was melting. I agian called the owner and he immediately told me he would call me right back. Then didn't awnser my calls for the next 2 days. The next weekend (the day after he said he would bring me a new washer) he unexpectly showed up in my driveway, Sunday at 730pm and said he was there to fix the appliances. I informed him as he had not been answering my calls I had bought another replacement for his fridge and washer/dryer. (I think he showed up because his bank told him I put a stop payment after he stoped taking my calls) and asked him to take his machines out of my garage. He refused, and here I am a week later with 3 broken appliances still in my garage. Also don't let him hook up your appliances as he did not use any of the safety devices that are required by code. Booth of the stoves had electrical covers missing and no cord strain relief that protcts the wire from the sharp metal edges as it enters the stove. The dishwasher has a missing toe kick that I doubt I will ever get but he said he had. All in all a...

Had to jump on here on show my guys some love. I just purchased my second dryer from Affordable Appliance. Four years ago I purchased a Kenmore washer and dryer. I was very happy with my purchase then and now. When purchasing from Affordable Appliance you have to manage your expectations. My washer still goes strong after four years but the motor in the dryer went out and I replaced it with a newer Kenmore dryer. I went to the store at 11:30 Monday morning, bought the dryer and the owner personally delivered it by 3:30 that afternoon. He set it up without a problem and took the old one away. In and out in 20 minutes.

I see some reviews mention poor service and attitude. I didn't have that experience, but again, I manage my expectations. Antony is a small business owner and is originally from another country. He works very hard 7-days per week and usually only has one person answering calls, taking payments and scheduling deliveries while he does EVERYTHING else. He personally repairs and delivers these machines. Often times he'll deliver the same day as purchased. Again, I understand the pressure he is under and appreciate his time and the care he puts into his work. No, he's not perfect but he's not a mean person, he's not sketchy, he's not unethical by any means. He's a hard working, honest man, a small business owner trying to survive. People should use a little more compassion and understanding when dealing with him.
