I’ve attended numerous shows at Wooly’s and it’s usually a decent experience, but my last visit made me never want to go back, which sucks bc I love live music and Wooly’s used to be great. To be fair, my problem is with the management and not the venue itself.
My wallet fell out of my purse at the venue while I attended the Taylor Fest show last weekend and was found and kept by the staff. Normally that would be great news, but when I tried to contact the venue the next day there’s literally no way to contact a real person. My boyfriend and I both called and messaged several times (see messages attached) to see if they had my wallet, but the phones are all automated as are their facebook messages. I never got an answer from them about whether they even had my wallet or not, but I did get a response telling me to email someone today(almost a week later)…by then I was very doubtful I would even get a response via email so I ended up waiting for them to reopen and drove all the way back downtown to ask in person. Thankfully my wallet was there, and all of my cards, but $100+ in cash was gone, my key ring was broken, and the staff was rude when I asked if they had seen my keychain in their lost and found when they grabbed my wallet.
I know I’m not the first person to leave something behind after a show, so the fact that the venue makes it so hard to contact someone to help is shocking. Why even have a phone number to call if it’s just going to repeat the same info from the website and not have any options to leave a message or speak to someone? I’m not normally one to write a bad review but this company runs almost every music venue in the metro area and should be able to have someone man a phone or their social media messages at least during...
Read moreWe have attended multiple shows at Wooly's. We always spend money at the bar. We choose to go here because it has, in the past, been a good venue. Within the last few months though, some things have changed. The staff are not nearly as friendly (which, whatever... I am a former service industry worker, I get it) and the drinks are continually more and more expensive. What really gets me, however, is the female bartender working and her horrible attitude... And last night, she positively outdid herself. We were there with our daughter. We had purchased drinks, paid and returned to our table. Our daughter requested a glass of water shortly thereafter so my husband went up to the bar to get her one. He asked the bartender for a glass of water. He was told they had bottled. He then explained that he only needed a small glass for a child to which the female bartender quipped back that he could either pay $2 for a bottle of water, or go downstairs and use the fountain. When he returned, I asked him why he got an entire bottle to which he explained to me the situation. I was incredibly taken aback. Not only are their drinks consistently and incredibly overpriced, but now they won't even give a child a simple glass of water? Seriously!? And to tell us we have to go DOWNSTAIRS to use a grimy drinking fountain or pay for bottled? I was HORRIFIED. Of all the times we have gone there, this was definitely the most ridiculous and poorest customer service we've ever experienced. Unfortunately, we won't be back. It was SO inappropriate. So, everyone, save yourself the trouble and find another place to spend your hard earned dollars where the people working will actually appreciate your patronage. I...
Read moreI seriously think and feel this place needs new management due to incredibly rude female bartender that shouldn’t be working with people. I asked for some water and she told me I could buy a plastic bottle for 3 dollars or go to the dungeon/restroom that absolutely smelled horrible and drink out of a fountain that you would actually have to put your mouth on to actually get a drink let alone the sound system was completely outdated. The sound guy had no idea what he was doing. The two fans that they had going couldn’t be turned on to actually use due to the dust and grime that it would create but to be honest it fit the locals attitudes. I’ll not be going to Des Moines to celebrate any kind of event was mean mugged and threatened multiple times by a bunch of seriously uptight want a be cowboys. I made it out without catching a case so I’m thankful for that but maybe these people need to think twice about how they treat perfect strangers and would love for a single one of them to come into my town and maybe they would learn a little something. How to shut up and respect other people might be there to listen to the music not them talking through the entire show and that you don’t own the entire space just because your head actually fills it. It could of been nice in the day but I’d beware unless you’re a complete uptight miserable person who only wants to act tough because you got your buddies you think would have your back as my boots stomp if you actually had the courage to do what you say. I was just waiting for someone to actually put one hand on me or my girlfriend. You would of regretted every thought you sent my way. Get a grip on yourselves before someone like me gets a grip on...
