Excellent small business. I purchase all of my games there. I've bought my gameboy SP, PS3, and several other things there and I always come away satisfied. When I bought my playstation, they only had the 120g system when I wanted the 80g (I was looking for a used system). They initially told me they had an 80g system and it'd be around $150. They returned from the back with the 120g system because it was all they had used. Then they gave me a discount on the spot and only charged my $150! I was blown away.
Another good discount story - I walked in to buy a controller for my PS3 a few months later, merely out of coincidence the manager was packaging and sealing a controller at that exact moment. Of course, he dropped what he was doing to help me out and I told him what I wanted. He told me since I saved him that packaging that he'd give me 10% off. No joke. I don't think a customer can expect more than that, really.
Also, whenever I'm in there to ask a completely random gaming question, they always seem to have a relevant answer, even if it means I'm NOT going to buy something.
As for the people complaining about the trade in values and not getting good cash for used games, consider this; Most of the used games that are over a year old sit on the shelves for a while. They have duplicates of almost every game you see in the store. Expecting cash for old sports video games or games for old systems is ridiculous because they probably won't sell them anyway. If they do, it won't be for a while or for much profit. If you want cash instead of store credit (which is usually pretty fair anyways) trade in something they can SELL. Like a popular game, tablet, system, phone or an ipod.
I have always been satisfied with my purchases and exchanges there and that's why I wrote this review. I find that most of the time people write reviews is because of a negative experience they had that was an isolated incident and they feel like complaining. If you're going to shop for video games, go to...
Read moreIn the past, we've had great experiences here. Friendly staff, good deals, and so on. Yesterday, though, we went to get a Nintendo Switch system and accessories. In trying to save a few bucks, we bought a used one in stead of a new one. The AC Adapter, that came with it, though, was for a Microsoft tablet, not Nintendo which prevented us from hooking it up to our TV. They let us take it back no problem, and we figured since it was only $40 more, we'd just buy a new one. The other problem we had, was that we bought a Switchpad by Emio. I like to play with Gamecube controller settings, so I was excited. I bought it new for a pretty penny, $70. I took it out of the box, expecting to be able to use it that first night to play, but I couldn't. On second thought, I thought I would return it, since I still had the receipt, all the pieces and packaging. They said they would only take it back as a "buy back" for about $30. What would be the point of loosing out on $40. Mind as well keep it and try it with the new Switch that we bought. What they had failed to inform us both times was that Emio was a failed company and that the only way to use the $70 control on the Switch, which we were obviously buying it for was to update it via Emio's website. Because the company went down, the website went down, and there is no other place to get the update anymore. Needless to say, we feel kind of ripped-off and upset. We had always been good customers, but I'm sorry to say we probably won't...
Read moreHello,
I've visited this location 5 times in the past two months.
On my first visit I received a copy of Halo 2 for free through a buy two get one free offer. I got home and discovered that the disk was very obviously cracked. I called Video Games Etc. And they told me they had a 90 day warranty on all games.
All was well, I don't live in the area so I returned it the next time I went to DBQ, only to get another heavily scratched disk. I called again and once again they said they would replace it. Here the company stated that as a primary reseller of games that they DO NOT playtest the games that they put on shelves.
I returned the game again and this time got the Special Features additional disk but not the actual game.
I returned the special Features disk today only to get another damaged copy of the game. I then spoke to a manager who told me there was nothing that he could do besides offer a refund.
Personally, I think the solution to all of this would be playtesting the games that they buy, but...
