My daughter and I have been taking group and private figure skating lessons at the IceForum for a little over two years. Their Learn to Skate program is a great introduction to the basics of ice skating for kids and adults. Zynthia, the program's new manager, has done a great job during the pandemic keeping classes socially distant and safe. She's also worked very hard to increase the number of adult students, even adding advanced jumps and spins classes for adults.
Once you learn the basics, there are so many different opportunities at the IceForum for kids and adults, from figure skating and ice dance to ice hockey and speed skating. I had no athletic ability at all when I started skating two years ago, but thanks to Nicole, Amy, and all the other patient and encouraging coaches, I've learned to do more than I ever though possible. My daughter has learned to be more confident and has made many close friends as well.
The facilities are showing their age but maintenance has improved in the past year. Major repairs were made last year to one of the ice sheets, and the ice is usually in good condition. There's a snack bar on site and a full service restaurant upstairs. Overall the IceForum is a great place to get out of the Georgia heat and learn...
Read morePatrick and his son are a fabulous team running the pro shop with exceptional customer service, and professional, experienced skate fitting skills!
Patrick measured my feet, found my size, had me identify any areas that were tight, then stretched and created room in the toe box with tools and the heating process. He was very helpful, friendly, and informative about describing the process.
He was also very sensitive with his language when helping me create room for my oddly shaped feet, and in no way exclaimed about the difficult shape or made me feel embarrassed in any way. (One foot is a half size bigger than the other and I have some mild bone deformities.)
What's even more amazing is that while he gave me the thorough attention the fitting process requires, I watched him expertly juggle several other customers with grace and efficiency. For someone who's able to multitask so well, he was never stressed, hurried or rushing any details. He has a very fun community of people in and out so if you're there for a while getting fitted, you will have fun!
I would highly recommend Patrick for your skate fitting needs. My skates fit perfectly on my (deformed) feet 😂. He's downright artful with his skate fitting...
Read moreBeen coming to the ice forum for years. Free skate, men’s league, etc. when I started coming to the forum it was ehhh. They some what turned it around in the past year or so. However, a few changes were made as of recent and this place is far worse than it has ever been. The ice is never fully solid, the boards have holes big enough to put a hockey puck through, the benches are never cleaned, etc. not only is the rink falling apart but so is the staff. The restaurant was a thriving place. They had great staff, great prices, and good food. Once the new management took over it went downhill hill. All the Employees left, food prices went up, food quality went down. If you are new to the area and looking for a men’s league to play in. I’d strongly suggest going to the AAHL. It’s worth the longer drive and later Games. At least they can schedule accordingly and give you a heads up when things change. A great example would be tonight, an hour before we had a men’s league game they canceled the game. No prior heads up, half the team was already there, they just don’t care, and the adults pay nearly...
