Initially, I gave 3 stars mainly because the human hair they used is very poor quality. But I had to change it to 1 star after I realized how bad the braids looked as well.
I have had boho knotless braids before, but the hair used was obviously good quality hair. I paid $675 for waist length with 2.5 bundles of the wet and wavy.
The human hair: Very thin & cheap feeling and looking. It sheds ALOT. It tangles easily. Not real wet and wavy. The waves are not apparent even when wet or with the use of mousse. They provided me with an unmarked bottle of conditioner to use on the hair. That was very nice of them but I like to stick to what I know. With good quality hair, there's not much maintenance required and you could use water, curling gel, or mousse and it will give you luscious waves. The hair they use is dry and dull. There are knots at the roots where they installed the human hair where my middle part is. It doesn't look good. I would've been better off going somewhere that uses ygwigs hair cause those bundles are beautiful and full.
Their price: Their price is their price. If you're unhappy with that, go elsewhere. However, they are not clear when you ask them about their price. You have to get specific with them. For example, I sent them a picture of their work off of their IG page and asked how much. They said "it starts at $600". Why not give the exact price? lol. I had to ask them for an exact price because I've seen the other reviews about how they react negatively to people wanting clarification. They charge an extra $150 for a full extra bundle of that super thin hair.
Service: THEY TALK A LOT over your head, but that didn't bother me too much because they had good customer service. They are very welcoming. The young lady there came around every so often asking how I liked my hair and offered drinks and snacks. My response was always "so far so good". They braided pretty quickly (5.5 to 6 hours) and the parts that I could see up front were very neat (minus the knotted human hair). They gave a goodie bag of hair ties and bottle of conditioner.
Overall: I wouldn't take that trip again. The poor quality of the hair was not worth the trip nor the price. They never show the wet and wavy hair actually wet on their IG page, now I see why. For $675 ($600 + $75 (for half a bundle) , I expected great quality.
Update: I took the hair down after 3 weeks only because I was out of the country and couldn't find someone else to do my hair. I would've taken it out sooner. The parts in the back were much bigger than the ones in the front. This truly was a waste of...
Read moreUnfortunately, my experience with this business was extremely disappointing, particularly due to the owner’s behavior.
I was initially drawn in by the glowing reviews on Google. The morning of my appointment I received a call asking me to come two hours later. I had made prior arrangements specifically for my original appointment, so I politely explained that I needed to keep the scheduled time. I asked if two braiders would be available later so I could possibly adjust, but the owner confirmed that she couldn’t guarantee that (which was fine) so I came at my original time.
I arrived 6 minutes late for my appointment and texted the salon to let them know. When I got there, I was asked about hair color. I showed two reference pictures and explained I was new to braiding with color and only had experience with 1B. She looked at the photos and said, “That’s not our picture, so I can’t guarantee the colors will be the same,” which left me confused, especially since I told her the names of the colors labeled in the photo. She then brought me to the back to view options, but due to the pressure and her lack of patience, I quickly settled on black. A few moments later, I asked a simple question about the color of the braiding hair next to me, and that’s when it she raised her voice. She continued to raise her voice stating she was a professional, that other clients were waiting, and that they didn’t have time for this, in front of the entire salon.
Yes, I was a few minutes late, but taking a few additional minutes to respectfully guide a client, especially someone unfamiliar with braiding hair color, would have gone a long way. A little patience and professionalism should be standard, not optional. Although I fully take accountability for being a few minutes late it is not acceptable to speak to customers that way.
The one bright spot was the braider herself. She asked if I was ok after the incident. She actually tested the color in my hair, which was so helpful and exactly the kind of support I needed from the start. However, despite that moment of professionalism, both braiders spoke about me in Spanish and French, assuming I didn’t understand..however they are languages that I am fluent in so I sat there quietly listening…so unprofessional.
The final result came out well, but the overall customer experience left a lot to be desired. I felt uncomfortable, dismissed, and disappointed by how things were handled. If I hadn’t already placed a non-refundable deposit to hold the appointment, I would have...
Read moreThe WORST customer service. I tried to make an appointment for 2 weeks just for the owner/manager to return my call and tell me they could not do my hair because I previously gave them a hard time . This woman mistakenly thought I was another woman “Sheila” and apologized. I was very nice about it and still decided to pay the deposit even though the scenario made me feel uncomfortable. Before I sent the deposit I asked nicely SEVERAL times what the total price was and I received NO response. Finally hours after sending the deposit anyway she called me to tell me I could not come because my deposit was sent too late. (Still very patient and calm) I inquired about another date and she said she would let me know. Finally, the morning of my original appointment she asked if I could come in because a slot opened up. In the middle of my work, I asked if it was okay that I came at 11am, she said ok. (So I stopped what I was doing to get ready for the appointment) traveling from Atlanta to Duluth I kindly communicated with her that I was running behind. 3 minutes before I reached the shop she CANCELED my appointment. Even after all of the back and forth, mistaking me for someone else and poor organization. This shop does a great job with braids but if you are looking for a pleasant customer experience, THIS ONE IS NOT IT.
READ THIS AFTER HER RESPONSE: No accountability- I’m not one to go back & forth but I’m choosing to ADD to my review since she replied with lies…. I spoke to no one within the timeframe of trying to schedule my appointment so please do not lie & try to make it seem as though I “sent my deposit a week later” I did not speak w/ anyone until 1 day prior to the agreed date & I wouldn’t send a deposit until I received confirmation of a FULL PRICE. which I still sent anyway. as I mentioned, I kindly informed her I was running behind & stated 11:25. It was 11:20 when I sent the message & I arrived at 11:28. The only thing I threatened was to leave a review. So to the owner, peace & blessings to you. I truly hope you learn to value each customer that attempts to book your services. I ended up at VIP BRAIDING IN LAWRENCEVILLE & received beautiful bohemian braids for half the...
