This is a darling community library! I have been coming to this library since before I could read and one of my earliest memories of a library book was pulling a glossy new copy of Madeline wrapped in sturdy clear plastic from a shelf of the children’s section, laying it down on the low pile carpet, and marveling at the illustrations. I can still remember the smell of the wooden shelves, the new paper, the plasticy carpet, and can still hear the crinkling of the plastic and the satisfying swish of the glossy turning pages. I couldn’t even read at that point but I knew l was hooked! I grew to love trips to the library, books, reading, and even researching in general! This is the library that fostered that love. The librarians (then and now) are masters of their craft. The materials, programs, and assistance provided are all top notch. They are especially skilled at welcoming young readers. Some public libraries have trouble finding a balance between caring for books and materials and the people that read or use them. This isn’t the case here. They take good care of their materials but not at the expense of making the patrons feel like criminals for a child’s well intentioned handling of them. This is an all around great library. I go out of my way to visit here for a dose of happy nostalgia. Many things have changed but many of the sights, scents, and sounds are just as they were in my childhood. I can still open up a new book wrapped in clear plastic and travel back to that simple feeling of joy and discovery experienced so many years ago. Thank you so much for making and keeping this...
Read moreAs a professional writer and student mentor, Dunedin Library is by far one of our best in the County. Other than Largo and Clearwater Main, Dunedin's collection is superior to surrounding satellite libraries. It is no wonder that this library has more foot traffic than others.
And the staff is far better than any other library including both main branches. I have sent students and adults here, both groups having been enrolled in my writing workshops. The staff goes out of their way to help you find whatever you need with regard to information or operating library equipment.
In addition, their programs are first rate regardless of topic. Lots of how-to seminars by concerned and hospitable staff.
Also, during Covid this library has adopted the most careful, sanitary procedures available including free masks, temperature check, and book/furniture sanitization...
