Dunwoody Nature Center — Attraction in Dunwoody

We had our wedding here at the end of September and it could not have been more perfect! We used Austin Lane for the ceremony which provided an intimate, secluded venue and the tree cover provided enough shade to keep it a comfortable temperature. This was followed by a cocktail hour in the lower meadow/sun porch and a reception in the North Woods Pavilion, both of which easily accommodated our 100+ guests. There is plenty of "behind the scenes" space for pre-event staging that we were able to use as well.The outdoor setting is so idyllic and pristine that we were able to use very simple decorations and let the nature be the focus. Our guests were raving about how beautiful it was. The elegant, glass-encased pavilion allowed us to have an indoor reception while still enjoying the wooded scenery. For the price, I don't think there is a better wedding venue in metro Atlanta. Abigail, the events manager, is extremely helpful and easy to work with. What a wonderful place to host a party! The Northwood Pavilion is a beautiful, intimate spot in the trees. It has air conditioning making it suitable for any season and is set off to the side so that other guests at the nature center don't inadvertently join. The catering kitchen makes it so easy. There is plenty of parking on the weekends with the elementary school lot there.

Abigail was so easy to work with: very prompt with emails, friendly, and helpful even at the last minute when we were technologically illiterate. They are generous to provide a speaker and microphone in addition to having a large TV mounted inside the pavilion. And the staff take care of setting up all the tables and chairs in which ever setup you choose from their options, not to mention how clean the facility was.

The park itself is great too. Lovely hiking trail around their pretty little creek. The outdoor piano provides such a nice ambiance as various people of all skills levels play on it.

Beautiful place but be careful if you want to celebrate your wedding in there.

Next to bad communication, two days before my wedding event they decided to have an event the morning after. Of course the vendors don’t work that way so friends and family had to help us to clean THE SAME NIGHT. They kicked us out at 11pm, so we had to finish the wedding before, clean as much as we could and come back very early the next day to pick up the last items. And at the end, surprise, they didn’t gave us our $500 security deposit back, even though we did not break anything. They cited some extra garbage (it didn’t all fit in the bins, we left it bagged next to the bins), some rice on the ground (it was a wedding), and extra cleaning up the day after (although verbally we were told that would be fine, guess we should have gotten it in writing). They gave us no indication that any of these things were issues beforehand. We gladly shared our wedding food and gave Abigail a generous tip.
