I love the store but I had an unfortunate experience in dealing with a Sales Associate (Ms Gladys - #10992337) at the check-out counter at Macy's @ the Brunswick Square mall. Earlier in the day, I had applied for a Macy's card online and produced the details of the approval including the card # and my photo id/drivers license (since I had received approval earlier in that day and had not received the physical card) at checkout. This was in-line with the Macy's website that clearly states that the store card can be used the same day based on the approval and on producing a valid photo Id. Ms Gladys refused to accept it and indicated that I could have illegally sourced the account # from the Internet (this is inspite of her verifying and confirming my photo Id & my details on the card approval). She desperately urges me to apply for a new card with her. When I refused to apply for a new card (since I had already done so earlier and had the approval), she got very irate and started speaking in an elevated & aggravated manner. I asked for the Manager to discuss the issue. The manager (Ms Gennalyn - #71461543) showed up and while I was explaining the experience with her, Ms Gladys starts speaking to Ms. Gennalyn in her native language. Ms Gennalyn verified my Card approval details, driver’s license and didn’t seem to have any concerns. My purchase is paid for by the same Macys card that Gladys refused to accept. Ms. Gennalyn assured that Gladys would be provided the necessary coaching. Would not have expected this experience at Macy's. This particular Sales Associate desperately needs the necessary training wrt store policies, handing new store cards, not forcing customers to apply for store cards and basic communication skills...

When trying out the mattress I was told I was laying on the "plush/soft" side of the mattress on display. Requested only a soft/push mattress and she wrote up the order asking again that I wanted a "PLUSH" mattress. After getting home and looking at receipt, (the next morning because it was July 4th and I didn't go home directly after making the purchase) I saw the receipt read "Cushion Firm". I then called the store (many times) and was helped by a kind gentleman named Nick who patiently listened to my problem because Emma was not available. He told me he would cancel my order and re-order my "Plush" mattress. Then he called back telling me my delivery date was now later because he cancelled the first order and there was no room for that same delivery date, I said fine. Then he called me again to tell me that the mattress I was sold did not come in "PLUSH" it was only "Firm" even though Emma told me I could purchase it in plush and that she ordered it in plush, which she did not. Emma was not only difficult to communicate with (English was not her primary language) but she was not knowledgeable about the product she sold me. This was my 4th mattress purchased with Macy's in about 7 years and I cancelled the order all together because I am not buying something that I do not want. Read moreMacys on a whole has gone downhill. Their policies are ridiculous. I ordered something online, a womans blazer, I paid for it on my Macys card so I could use Star Rewards. Then I paid my Macys card off using a debit card. When I received the blazer I returned it and they wouldn't refund my money to my debit card. Either Macys card or store credit only. Ridiculous and I never heard of anything like that before. Then I ordered shoes online from them and the two pairs I ordered arrived used but one of them looked like they were worn for a year and returned. I lost faith in Macys. East Brunswick NJ is my preferred store. As I was walking out of there today totally disgusted I stopped to look at shoes. A Sales Associate in shoes, Nick Malvagna, helped me. Nick was incredibly good and because of his professionalism and quality service, I MIGHT think of shopping there again. But if I can't find it in the store I will NEVER order anything from them again. Their order policies and return policies are for the birds !!! Every other store could refund the method of payment...
