AMC East Hanover 12 — Attraction in East Hanover

Just saw the Betty white movie in the theater, granted I haven’t been to the movies in forever. Last movie was impractical jokers.. at that time the place looked very run down and looked like it was on the brink of shutting down completely. After the movie was over I needed to use the restroom while my husband went to get car and I came out of the bathroom all the lights I mean all the lights where off and everyone was gone and all the doors where locked and I was locked in…. I was finally able to get out and we left. I did try to reach out to Corp but got no response…. I said to myself at that point I would not give it another shot…. Then the Betty white movie comes out and the only place I can see it is at this theater. I said ok let’s give it another shot…. Again walking in the movie theater it’s was dingy and run down looking. Walking into the theater was very dark. (We got into the theater 15 minutes prior to the movie starting)…. I actually had to turn on my flashlight on my phone to find out seats. Once we where seated both mine and my husbands seat did not recline so we where not very comfortable sitting in our seats. Once the movie was over again no lights came on and we had to use our flashlights again to leave… when I approached the manger and told him about my experience he told me it all automated and there was nothing we can do…. He said I’ll have to have someone look at it. As we where awaiting the managers return there was an elder woman with her older daughter complaining about the same issue with no lights to help them see….. that this amc their is no concern for the guests!!!!!! No compassion at all… also last think to prove no compassion the ice out side the building I was horrible.. i understand it snowed and it starting to freeze but no salt on walkways nothing….. never again will I go back to this theater…..#ripbettywhite your birthday celebration tribute was...

The theater looked nice but it was obvious they don't clean because as soon as we walked in (15 min to start time)we saw a big pile of popcorn all over the floor all over our seats and drink cups in almost the first 6 seats and butter greased all over the seats as well as candy boxes and wrappers when we asked can someone clean it the attendant came over with an attitude and asked is this ours we told him we wouldn't have asked him to come clean it if it was ...he them acted like we were bothering him and said (well fair enough) we sat down next to a couple of 11 or 12 year olds who didn't stop talking the entire movie(btw the movie was "A Quiet Place" good luck with that)even after staff was asked to come over and quiet them down they were acting like they couldn't stop themselves from laughing like 4 year olds the couple who sat down next to us also had an attendant come over to clean their seats and the cups that were there. The whole place was completely dirty soda was spilled all over in the walkway leading up to each room...garbage in the bathroom and urine all over the place I've been to some of the worst theaters in Jersey and they weren't even close to the garbage going on at this place this is definitely an AMC that has fallen way off the radar... thanks for a horrible date night I won't ever go back sorry I didn't think to take any pictures just wanted to leave as...

UPDATE: Power went out in terrible storm. Nobody's fault. HOWEVER, everyone, including disabled persons, were forced out, through low light conditions, into the terrible weather by less than appropriate staff. Told tickets would be honored at any local AMC, including same location. Came next day, early in day and with same seats available to same movie. Staff would not honor yesterday's seats. Person at front desk just rude. Multiple staff members insisting that we pay for another set of tickets today and that AMC would refund in 5 days. Not what we were told yesterday at all. Manager Jonathan no help at all. Bad service. Bad attitude. Never coming back.

Electric controlled recliner chairs however if you look at the pictures you will see that the seats are placed in pairs meaning one shared arm rest has 2 cup holders one each for the person on the left and the right of the arm rest. The next next arm rest does not have any cup holders. Kind of odd if the person next to you is a stranger as was the case tonight when I went to the movie with wife and child. The chairs are comfortable but not as wide or comfortable as the recliner chairs in Morristown or West Orange. That said, the theater is kept very clean, much cleaner than Morristown as comparison. The refreshments bar looks cleaner and is better staffed than other local theaters. Very good...
