Visibly upset employee.
I have been happy with their services in the past but today was a bit off. I went there to look for a replacement bulb for a burned out Westinghouse mini-twist bulb with a spiral pattern which I had a photo taken of (Maybe I should have brought the actual bulb instead). I thought a box of bulb that I picked off a shelf (globe shaped) should work but the wattage does not match and I just wanted their employee to confirm. Since there was no one close by, so I went to the customer service desk which was right next to the bulb aisle.
They rang for help and shortly a lady came. I showed her my picture and the box that I got off the shelf and asked her if they will work with the wattage difference. I wasn't looking for an exact replacement, just wanted her to confirm if the ones I found on the shelf will fit. She looked at my picture and said they are not the same type of bulb (my picture and the box of bulb that I found). I replied I know but I just wanted to make sure they will work. She lead me to a bulb that has the same spiral design and said that I am looking for those bulbs, but because the ones on the shelf are not twist-on (as shown in my picture) but with two studs so they won't fit. I asked her again if the bulbs in my hand (globe bulb with twist-on thread) will work? Then I think for at least three times she repeated that I need the ones she pointed to on the shelf but they won't fit because they are not twist-on, and at this point she was visibly upset and I was confused with her response. I asked her emphatically if the box of bulb that I had in my hand will work as a replacement for the bulb in my picture? She said no. Then I asked if there is any bulb in the store that can replace this bulb on my phone? She answered: NO! and you'll probably have to return them anyways, so she grabbed that box of bulb from my hand.
I was already tired from a previous grocery food shopping trip and thought this was stupid and didn't feel like continuing talking to her. So she took the bulb and I said okay... thank you and left. She said thank you behind me as well with a tune that I felt like, if i may, was inviting for a duel or something. I didn't turn back and didn't want to stay a minute longer in that store and went to another Home Depot in Parsippany. Upset employee = no business.
In the Parsippany Home Depot, I went straight to the light bulb aisle and an employee near by and asked for a replacement for the bulb in the picture from my phone and told him that it doesn't have to be the exact same type of bulb. He was very helpful and lead me to the exact same shelf with the globe bulbs that I thought would fit from the East Hangover Home Depot. He asked what the bulb would be used for and took out one to roughly compare the size of the twist-on stem using my hand in the picture as reference. He basically told me that any ones on that shelf with the twist-on bottom of that size in my photo should work. He even helped me find the best brightness and wattage. Came home and put on the new bulb and it fit and lit nicely.
Now sitting at my computer while typing this long review, I figured maybe that lady at east Hanover simply didn't know much about the bulb and mistakenly thought a spiral shape needs to be replaced with another spiral shape, or maybe she had a bad day already beforehand? Who knows but still, she is in service business so I thought the store should know and hopefully improve...
Read moreFound out today that my home had been vandalized. Given Home Depot's reputable name, I decided to give them a call to see whether or not they had any cameras on stock. I called this location and after waiting for customer service, a woman answered "Home Depot, how can I help you?". To which point I asked if they had any security cameras on stock. The woman responded "are you serious?"....At first I could not believe the response, so I asked again "how much the cheapest camera would be" as to my knowledge, my question was not that outlandish, and I was told to "hold on a moment". 10 minutes later, the same woman answered saying "Home Depot, how can I help you?". At this point I was in disbelief, and questioning whether or not this was (1) complete ignorance and disregard me as a customer or (2) purely incompetent employee. Sure enough, I was put on hold again for another 5 minutes to which point a the same woman answered saying "Home Depot, how can I help you"? Finally, this woman transferred me to another female employee who was fortunately able to give me a price within a reasonable time. THAT IS ALL I WAS LOOKING FOR, A SIMPLE PRICE. This should never have taken 15 minutes for something that takes 10 seconds. Not only that, but their attitude upon asking a simple question was unparalleled to something I had ever seen. Given my circumstance of my home, I was very distraught to see such a reputable name offer such poor customer service. One thing people (employees) do not realize is by drawing away a potential customer (such as myself), you are more or less preventing Home Depot from earning thousands down the road. I was planning on buying 6 cameras today (which I were told were $199 each) and planned on using Home Depot for all future purchases of these sorts down the road. Instead, because of the pure inefficiency of one woman, you have lost thousands of profit not only today but down the road. I wish I had gotten the name of this individual as she was a pure discredit to...
Read moreNightmare customer experience with delivery of a fire rated door from this store. The door was delivered on 6/15 with one side in banged up and absolutely unacceptable condition, as you can see in the photos. The delivery truck took off before my husband had a chance to inspect it or sign any paperwork. I called the store within 15 mins of the truck’s departure and a pickup for return was scheduled for Fri 6/17 between 6am-8pm, a 14-hr delivery window. THE TRUCK NEVER SHOWED. I called store at 3pm and was assured a truck was coming. I called again at 7pm, spoke to customer service, and delivery LIED saying they called me and came to our address and spoke with me. None of that happened.
Return pickup was rescheduled for the 2nd time for Monday 6/20, again for the very convenient 14-hr delivery window of 6am-8pm. I called the store 3 times today checking on delivery status. At 4:26pm I received a voice message saying that we were NOT ON SCHEDULE for delivery and truck would not be coming today. This is now twice I’ve spent ALL DAY waiting on a truck that never showed up.
My patience, trust snd understanding is now completely gone and I need the $642.95 I paid for this piece of junk credited back to my card ASAP. Home Depot, please make...
