Davon a terrible trainer to work with , i pay for for training sessions to work out at the gym this guy wanted to keep my money and cancel my session because I didn’t want to work out in a field with a bunch of hs kids . I pay to workout at a gym he never mentioned me this was part of the “commitment” of training with him , he just told me to come to the field mind you no head up or nothing I told him I wasn’t prepared to work outside in a 90 degrees weather with no sunscreen or nothing. He argue so bad with me , definitely it wasn’t worth it . I left the gym so angry aggravated and more no one should be leaving the gym like this . Also this guy make his wife call me as if she was a staff and told me I was over reacting because I didn’t want to work out in the field under that weather . Like she was going to make me change my mind or like she was going to put pressure on me like boy bye I been under pressure my whole life wrong person she literally cracked jokes on me she called me out saying “ i sound like a spoiled and childish person because that I didn’t want to workout without sunscreen! “ (good thing she wasn’t there because god knows !!! ) also this people change they mind in a heart beat one day they tell you in fine to bring your kid to the gym and the next time they have a issue and the child can’t be there and now you...

I’ve been going to Strong and Shapely for several years now and one thing I could say is the weight room is perfect! Paulie and his staff do an amazing job at keeping the gym updated with new equipment almost every week. The staff is super friendly and always there for assistance. The problem with the gym however is the locker rooms. Unfortunately, the locker rooms are unkempt and just flat out disgusting. As soon as you walk into the bathroom your hit with the strong smell of urine at anytime of the day. They don’t even have paper towels to wipe your hands, instead a hand dryer that has mold growing under it. The sauna is flat out awful, doesn’t even stay on the whole time and isn’t hot at all. Their competitors have a 10x better locker room. With a locker room renovation this gym could possibly be the best in North Jersey.
Edit 1 year later: locker rooms were mildly renovated…new lockers and tiling, however mold still growing in the bathroom that still smells like urine. Haven’t seen a sauna since the renovation unfortunately. Parking situation has become unbearable now. Gym still getting new equipment in each week. However at this monthly rate more action should be done to enhance this facility. Many friends have decided to leave this gym for it’s...
Read moreBest gym on the east coast. This is where you come if your serious about body building and training. Other "gyms" in the area ( which are actually fitness centers) are weak comparison -- i've been to almost all.
Old-school, rustic feel to the gym. The weights are always racked, everything is always in its place -- the gym takes this very seriously. It's never crowded, and even at peak times (around 6pm), there will always be more than a few machines or weight sets open for you to use. There are great mirrors, even on the ceiling, which allow you to see yourself when your doing dumbell bench presses. They even have dumbells that are half-weight -- like 37.5lbs for instance LOL
It's a cultured place. Maybe something out of a scene from Pumping Iron. I've been seeing the same guys and gals here make progress together month after month.
It's not the prettiest place. That's not the point of the gym. Sometimes some of the machines are down, and some of the cardio equipment isn't working, but a few weeks ago they hired a dedicated maintenance guy and I saw him working on many of the down machines.
Open 24hrs on weekdays. Closes at 7PM Sat & Sunday. HUGE place. Every machine you can think of. 4 sets of dumbells. I think you can get a whole year membership for...
