We visited the Blarney Station Pub for a very early (4:00 pm) dinner on Sunday, June 11th. It was a beautiful so we were able to sit at a table in the sidewalk seating area outside. We sat under an awning and it was very pleasant. My wife and I (in our 60's) were joined by our son, who is in his 20's. None of us are fond of loud restaurants; the indoor part of the Blarney Station Pub has a bar area and also a seating area. The bar area was rather loud (so that one would have to raise one's voice to carry on a conversation). Outside was much quieter, except that it is located adjacent to the Rutherford Train Station and trains came through or arrived and departed at least three times in the hour we were there. They are loud enough to interfere with conversations, but usually short in duration. The food was excellent - we shared the German pretzel with Guiness cheese appetizer. Four (approximately) 8-inch straight pretzels were firm on the outside and baked to a soft, bread-like interior (not doughy, as some pretzels are). We all enjoyed the appetizer. I had the shepherd's pie and it was delicious, though it did not come with any side dish accompaniments. There were quite a few beers/ales on tap (I think about 25 varieties). My son and I each had a Guiness stout. The service was prompt and the servers were helpful with menu suggestions and they made sure that we were taken care of properly. I enjoyed the Blarney Station Pub and would definitely consider...
Read moreFood was decent but a bit pricey for 3 people $150.00 for 3 burgers and 8 beers. It’s kind of annoying having different waitress come every 10 minutes asking if we need more drinks. They also want you to leave within a few minutes after you pay the check even when it’s not busy. They told us “We need this table for a reservation” Me and my friends went around the corner where they were at least 6 empty tables for about a half hour. When I walked back around the corner to go to my car there was NOBODY I repeat NOBODY sitting at the table that they claimed they needed so bad. As I checked the website from what I read I didn’t see anything about making reservations, only if your planning an event. And I saw no events going on this particular night. I understand restaurants and turn around times but when there are 4 to 5 empty tables outside you shouldn’t be rushing customers out especially after spending $150 for some burgers and beers not including tip. On non busy days customers should be able to leave when they want especially if they spent a fair amount of money. That is not fair to the customer an we will not be returning. Park Tavern never did that to us even on...
Read moreEdit 2023 from 5 star down to 2: they must have changed management or sold, IDK what. We moved away, came for a game and good bar food. Soooo disappointed. Slashed the menu and everything is well over priced. $17 for a hockey puck tiny burger that had just 1 piece of lettuce, a tomato and grilled onion. No pickles at all in the place either. The beer is warm, no head, flat, and tastes bad. They need to clean their taps - badly. Waiter got our orders wrong and wasn't checking on us. For instance, we never got our sauces for our meals. It was just terrible all around. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Skip it... shame what they did to Blarneys
Love this place. Not only is it a bar, but it's also great for families, so don't be discouraged if you have small children. We've been going here for 5 years. Friendly staff, food - surprisingly so, is some of the best we've had in the East Rutherford and...
