My experience as a patient at the Immediate Care Medical Walk-In of East Windsor in East Windsor Township, New Jersey, was terrible. I have never felt so invalidated, disrespected, undervalued, and pushed aside in any other healthcare facility.
Today, I experienced the worst pain and swelling in my mouth and throat. My level of discomfort was so high that it bothered me to eat or speak. My swelling seems to be affecting my tonsils, uvula, and most of my upper throat. In particular, my swelling is so severe that I feel that I'm in a near-constant state of retching because my uvula presses against my tongue.
The physician and nurse in my healthcare team at the Immediate Care Medical Walk-In were antagonizing and quizzical in their behavior. They performed tests to determine the extent of my infection, but when my results were inconclusive, they shrugged their shoulders and acted bored, as if they would rather be elsewhere. When I asked what was wrong or what illness I had, Dr. Christine Ibrahim told me, "You could be contagious?" and I felt it odd to be given questions in response to the questions I was giving my physician.
She and the healthcare team quickly moved me out of the examination room after lazily telling me to take over-the-counter ibuprofen. The nurse stationed at the Immediate Care Medical Walk-In starred at me in puzzlement when I tried to ask her to tell my now-leaving physician that I wanted a written physician work excuse at the very least to avoid both potentially getting my coworkers ill and take some time to recover at home. The nurse disgruntedly and swiftly spoke to Dr. Ibrahim, who declined to give me a note and explain why she did not want to write me a letter.
In short, their practice took one glance at me and, after eagerly taking my payment, did a supremely odd and subpar job trying to help me in my vulnerable condition. I'm grateful for my loved ones who advocated for me to receive care at other practices today. My experience at the Immediate Care Medical Walk-In made me feel I was in the wrong for nothing in particular. I aim never to revisit this practice and make sure none of my loved ones ever has to visit...
Read moreNot sure where all the 4+ Star reviews are coming from because we had a horrible experience. We made an appt online, and it didn’t make a difference, we still waited an hour to be seen for less than 5mins. Also please note it is a nurse practitioner on duty, not an MD. Polite front desk employees, the issue is the NP prescribed a drug that is not indicated for the issue my daughter was having and in fact could be harmful. I called several times asking for them to re-submit the corrected prescription and also asking to speak to NP: I got a response from the office manager who seemed annoyed that I was questioning the prescription and told me I would more than likely not be receiving a return phone call and that the NP made the diagnosis and prescription based on her medical expertise and she really didn’t have to second guess it or look into it further. She also said if I didn’t agree with the diagnosis we would need to schedule another appointment, come in and start the examine process all over again. Obviously we wouldn’t do that, she knew it and spoke to me that way in order to ensure that we would not call back or continue to try to correct this potentially dangerous error. We went elsewhere and received the correct diagnosis and safe and proper prescription. I am in touch with my insurance carrier to make them aware of this incident and make sure that they do not pay the claim. I would not go here for anything even remotely serious. We will not ever return. We went due to our usual practice being off for the holiday. I thank God I advocated for my daughter, questioned the incorrect and potentially harmful prescription and took proper steps to correct it. I worry that people who don’t have the medical benefits or ability to question the prescription they receive could be harmed by the lack of knowledge, lack of time spent with the patient and failure to accept any sort of responsibility when questioned by the patient. Really, really concerning for this community. Hopefully steps will be taken to correct the deficiencies of the staff from the NP to the office manager, retraining should take place by...
Read moreMy wife and my son visited this facility to get the COVID test done, and prior to visiting the facility, we verified that the cost of the test is covered by the insurance company, and we also verified with the facility prior to starting the test that we only need to get the test done. We don't need this to be considered as an office visit. On top of it, when they started taking vitals for my son, my wife doubted that they may actually consider this as a doctor's office visit, and questioned the staff while this was being done, and they assured that this will be considered only as a COVID test, and not as the doctor's office visit. My son wasn't recommended any treatment either. They said assistant of doctor did come to see my son, but this was not the service we were seeking. We were there just with a clear intention of getting the COVID test done, and we clarified if that was possible or not, but this greedy business just forced upon us the charges for the services that we didn't ask and they didn't provide. Few weeks later, we get $150 bill (with our visit treated as a Dr. office visit). I tried reaching out to the facility, and they forwarded our inquiries to the billing department, which is a third party business that this dr. office have offloaded to. After persistent calling, we learned that it is not the billing department issue. Billing department just sends the bill to the insurance company with whatever diagnostic codes the Dr. office provides them with. We finally learned that this Dr. office is the one who is sending FALSE diagnostic code to shell more money from the patient and insurance company. I strongly discourage anyone looking for a good service avoid this...
