Unusual beach because of the tides. When low you can walk out a ways with the water at your knees. But at high tide the waves are very gentle (so good for small kids). Also the water was pretty warm for cape cod.
The downside of this beach is the public area is quite small. There are private sections on either side.
The one annoying thing about the beach is the pay parking. The sign with the URL in at the road entrance and we missed it. We did google searchs from once we sat down on the beach to pay (a local did warn us to pay but didn't know the url because they buy a season pass). But the traffic warden was even faster. City hall did reverse the ticket without any fuss when we showed them the...

The breakwater to the left faces west so the public part of the beach is great for watching the...
Read moreBreakwater beach is one of the local public beaches in Brewster on Cape Cod. Parking is limited and requires permit. Can get crowded. But a great place to bring the kids and show them the 6 hour cycle of the tides. During low tide the beach extends a long distance. A fun walk for children to find horse shoe and hermit crabs, mollusks and colorful large snails in the beds of sea grass. As the tide rolls in the water forms streams and becomes a vast low water salty "pool" with a soft sandy bottom. With little waves it's the best place to drift in rafts and give the kids swimmies...
