Had a wonderful dinner at Brewster Fish House last night. Great cocktails - including a classic Aviation and a more modern concoction with green chartreuse. Both were excellent. Very much enjoyed the burratta and the tuna ceviche. Crafted with care and attention to detail with beautiful ingredients. We had the salmon main course to share. It was excellent. The dashi sauce poured over was amazing. Salmon was cooked to requested temperature and very tasty.
And then there was desert - we had crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. A note about crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e - I think it is the perfect menu item to see if the kitchen staff really cares about its work. Itâs presentation when done well is a little tricky - custard with suspended vanilla that is set up and cold with a carlmelized crust that is still hot when it gets to the table. And itâs usually prepared by someone working their way up the kitchen ladder - not the main chef so itâs a good indication of how the kitchen is led and trained. Most crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e comes to the table cold on top - premade earlier and just taken out of the reach in. Or the custard isnât set right or any number of issues. That does not ruin a meal for me but it provides a little insight behind the curtain. Well, Brewster Fish House nailed it. It was perfect. Just like the rest of our meal.
Our server Katie was terrific and our table cozy. Katie generously split our glass of wine we shared and our espresso martini and was knowledgeable, pleasant and professional.
Thank you for a wonderful meal and evening. Weâll be back and so should anyone interested in...
Read moreLazy, inedible cooking, and even ruder staff. Worst meal we had on the Cape. I was served the clam linguine and as soon as it arrived in front of me, I knew something was wrong. It had a pile of chopped garlic and parsley garnish on top of an otherwise plain looking pile of pasta. Surely if I moved the top glob aside, there would be some sauce, clams, garlic or oil underneath? No. I took a biteâplain linguine. Now, I know this dish by heart, as it is my signature dish to entertain with and also one I order frequently. This rendition was lazy and embarrassing. For the first time in 7 years, I sent a dish back at a restaurant. My dining companion also sent hers back, as her tuna had been seared so lazily it was piping hot on the outside and ice cold in the middle. How unpalatable. The manager tried to gaslight us that we were unsophisticated diners and couldnât appreciate ârareâ tuna and âdelicate pasta sauceâ and wouldnât admit fault. Simply said she was sorry we didnât âenjoyâ it. Implied we had no taste â which is not only rude but far from the truth as I frequent high end restaurants around the world for work all the time. She refused to refund my colleagueâs meal since sheâd already eaten most of her sides before realizing the issue with her tuna. The manager accused us of trying to freeload off the restaurant and then said âdonât take this out in your servers tipâ. I have never been treated so...

My mother, 15 month old and I arrived for lunch just before 12 with only a few tables occupied. We were shown to a table and 8 asked for a high chair. The waiter replied âWe donât have high chairs.â When I asked why, the bartender rudely interjected âWe donât have them. You can bring your own or use your car seat.â Who travels with a high chair and how would I secure a car seat with a 15 month old in it to a chair? My mother then stated that this is obviously not a child-friendly restaurant to which the bartender again rudely replied âWe are child friendly and many restaurants donât have them.â I live in Switzerland and travel all over with my child (including to Michelin starred restaurants) and have never been told that the restaurant doesnât have high chairs or booster seats. The Brewster Fish House clearly doesnât welcome children and should be transparent about this on its website or at least its front door. The atmosphere is far from high-end dining- it is a glorified bar- which makes its rudeness and unwillingness to accommodate children completely unacceptable. My mother loves on the Cape but we will...
