Generally, a cute tourism trap.. has a little bit of everything, a bit overpriced, but it's actually cute inside.
Had a bad interaction with the older woman (one of the owners?) who has a bad attitude. We called the night prior to ask about helium balloons as it was advertised that they had them; the young woman told us pricing and availability and told us they open at 7am the next day. We only really needed about 4 for a small get together that we were having and this place was the closest for what we needed. When we got to the store around 930am the next day, we inquired about the balloons and a young woman went to the back to get someone to help us. An older woman came out from the back and immediately, with a bad attitude, said, "well, we don't do that here, the person who does know how to manage the machine comes in at 11am. either way, you're supposed to call with a custom order and we can only do about 6 anyway". I proceeded to explain to her what the conversation was the night prior and said we only really needed about 4 and we weren't told that only a certain person can blow up the balloons. She continues to repeat herself in different ways. Her attitude was abrasive and nasty - and never said sorry for any confusion or anything. There's always a nicer way of saying things and that woman chose the other route. Will never...
Read moreOriginally built in 1852 as a church this general store is not only a Brewster institution but I'd go as far as to say it is a Cape Cod institution. Definitely a must see if you are in the Orleans/Brewster area. Great place for kids too, with an old fashioned type candy area/display. Walking through The Brewster Store is most certainly a step back to a simpler time, a real slice of Americana that is today hard to find. As you shop and browse this 2 story historic building you will find almost anything you need from souvenirs to everyday items you may have forgotten to pack on your vacation. It also has a old fashioned counter area to grab a cup of coffee etc. The Brewster Store will definitely be crowded during peak summer months, that's why I tend to go in the fall when the Cape returns to a more...

I was upstairs with my mother and younger brother when my brother sat down on the edge of a bench with pillows because he wasn’t feeling well. My mother talked to him asking if he wanted to go home, and an employee named Carol came up to us and asked my brother to move, which he did. She then proceeded to call us disgusting and idiots. I am not even joking, I cannot believe that someone would speak to customers like that. My mother then told the assistant manager, who was delightful and spoke to Carol. Other than that annoying encounter, the store was great and so was the rest of the staff. Anyways, I learned my lesson to never sit on a bench at the...
