DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!
I spent hours shopping other institutions, leaving defeated by prices and poor selection.
NOT AT SCHEELS!!!
You want to learn a new sport, buy a cayak, snowboard, gun, warm jacket, a quality shoe, or team apparel. This is the place....do not shop elsewhere. Start here, I promise from experience you will be blown away by the incredible selection and knowledge staff.
There are staff members in every department and managers walking the premises. Before you even make eye contact with that overwhelmed/confused look on your face they are next to you helping you make the right choice.
I had that look shopping for my husband's birthday gift. He wanted a cellular trail camera. The employee in the area spotted that look and swooped in to the rescue! Not only did he help me pick the best option for our family, he made my husband the envy of our hunting group! Everyone (except me, of course) knew this was an incredible camera! Reveal cellular camera - Tactacam... That service member stayed with me over an hour going through each camera and even offering a live walk through of installation.
Now to Jameson in the shoe department. This gentleman needs some serious accolades. Please acknowledge this incredible associate! Any business would benefit greatly from him and Scheels is blessed to have this human. He took the time to properly fit 3 of us, bring us countless options, encouraged my 8 year old to come out of his comfort zone and try laces. He took the time to explain the safety and benefits behind each choice and each pair of shoes. He was beyond knowledgeable of each and every brand. He was patient, kind, and extremely trustworthy. Never pushing us, but fully explained the benefits of quality shoes. Back to my 8 year old who has never learned to tie his shoes....Jameson sat side by side until he got it! We all celebrated! I would sing his praises till my voice ran dry! If you go to the shoe department ask for JAMESON! If your a head hunter, there is some serious talent behind that young man! Being in the corporate world for 15 years, I know the value of an employee like that!
Supply shortage.....the excuse I received from so many other businesses. Yeah, not at SCHEELS! The prices are very fair, if not on the lower end of other businesses. I did see a price match sign, although I am not sure if applies storewide.
Dane, a walking manager also spent time helping to narrow down a Christmas present in the wool sock area.
Like I said earlier, don't waste your time. Go to Scheels 1st.
I am completely blown away by the service my family and I...
Read moreI have to say that I normally have a good experience here, but after my last experience, I will never take my bike to them again. My son was moving to Flagstaff to take a job out there. I gave him my road bike to take along. He took it to the Scheels bike department to get a tune-up done on it, which is $80. I normally would do most of my bike work, but he didn't want to bother me, so he took it in. He and my wife went on to purchase water bottles and other items that day. Two days after the bike was to be ready...so plenty of time, I went to pick it up. I picked out spare tubes, bag and a bunch of accessories to go with it. They went back and got the bike. When they brought it out I could tell they hadn't wiped down the dust on the frame, so I figured they don't do any cleaning for the "Tune-up". They showed me the checklist which showed they trued the tire...that my son asked them to do. They said the chain was stretched but could last a while before needing replacement as long as it wasn't giving us trouble, but everything else was checked "green" on the sheet. So I took the sheet, the bike and my items to the front. I noticed right away that the speedometer wasn't working, but I figured it was just the magnet...I would just fix it. So I pay for everything, put it in the car and take it home. I put it on my bike work stand to put the accessories on and notice the rear tire is 1/4" out of true....what the heck did we just pay $80 for? So I proceed to spend the next hour and a half doing a tune-up on it, while putting on the accessories. I call Scheels and express my concerns...they apologized and said I could bring it back. My son was leaving the next day, so that wasn't possible. So they said they would send a gift card for the inconvenience. The gift card was for $20. Did I expect $80...No...but I did expect that it would be $40 or more. It cost us gas, our time to take it there and I don't even feel like they did anything to it. They had no materials into the cost of doing a "Tune-up". Maybe put it on the stand and visually looked it over? Unfortunately, I will not be taking my bikes...
Read moreI had bought new fishing rod from scheels along with new fishing line that I had used to fill the spool it came with full, that very same day it snapped from fishing. Upset about how easily it had been broken I made a quick return with receipt in hand. Now this was a very hot day and I understand it was very busy aswell there was alot going on and I didn't mind waiting ( i also must state the employees of scheels usually set the bar in customer service and are always more than happy to help being both helpful and knowledgeable on what they sell) however after waiting for about 20min there was a young blind gal who didn't even care for what I had to say as soon as I finished with the problem I had, she just told me she couldn't do anything untill i I gone to the fishing dept where they could give me further assistance. already irritated with both the quality of the pole and the lack of concern I made my way to fishing only for the gentlemen who helped me state that there was no reason I should have been made to come back all he did was write down the serial number and the total of what I paid on the recipt since I asked for a refund. I had less than 5 items including the pole line I had mentioned prior. Irritated at this point in make my way back to the gal in blond and I made. a comment along the lines of "That's all you needed?" Where she cheekily replied "Yep" I understand there are certain departments and not everyone knows exactly what they're looking at and what the items may be called however seriously the lack of effort and concern is what really got me fumed here. When it comes down to it, it was pure laziness that I had encountered. I'm sure the employees and unfortunately even some of the customers might know kno exactly im talking about this gal needs to be retrained and or be talked to I'm sure she's a smart competent young woman she just needs to put effort into her work and help out as much as the rest of her team. She does not define scheels this was just a bad experience. As I said scheels usually sets the bar for customer service and I look forward to coming...
