I went to Comfeet Spa this evening. A big pro was that they were able to accommodate two people coming in on a Friday night at 8:30 PM. I was very excited since my neck and back have been achy. The ambiance is similar to that of any foot massage place in the area, many lounge chairs for foot rubs, a few private rooms etc. They had tea and water which was nice considering most establishments like this don't have any extras. The women at the desk was very pleasant and everyone was nice.
The actual massage was simply not good. We opted for the 30 minute back and 30 minute foot massage for 40$, not bad right? Well, not so fast. I won't exactly call this a 'massage' both services were more like a rub down with oil. I specifically asked the masseuse to use deeper pressure and showed where my problem areas were, but I suppose it went on deaf ears. It was clear I had knots in my neck and he just went right over them. I appreciate a masseuse who doesn't let you leave before a knot is gone, or one that even focuses on them at all. The back rub was useless, and foot rub didn't feel much better. I genuinely feel like I wasted my money. I left feeling no relief at all which was pretty disappointing. My S/O had the same feelings regarding the experience.
P.S. While they accept debit and credit cards It is an extra fee to use them and you can not tip on the card. This seems to be industry standard, but annoying...
Read moreI went to Comfeet Spa in Edgewater last night with a friend for a 6:30 p.m. full-body massage appointment. The spa was clean and quiet, and the experience started off fine. However, during my massage, something happened that made me feel uneasy.
At one point, my masseuse, Coco, used hot stones and as she was gliding them across my back, I suddenly felt a strange, scratch-like sensation in two different areas. She paused during the motion, and I couldn't tell if it was her nail or something else that caused the discomfort. I didn’t want to overthink it in the moment, but it didn’t feel right. I should have asked to stop and check, but instead I tried to stay relaxed.
Later, when I turned over, Coco said something I didn’t fully understand, though I heard the word “beautiful.” She also gestured something I interpreted as asking if I dance. I smiled and said yes, unsure of what she meant. Then, while massaging my scalp, she paused a couple of times to the point that I looked back to make sure everything was okay—it just felt odd.
After I got home, I checked my back and wiped the areas where I felt discomfort with an alcohol pad. There was no blood, but it did sting slightly where I had felt the scratch sensation.
While I understand that not every experience will be perfect, this one left me with more questions than relaxation. I don’t feel comfortable returning and hope this was just an...
Read moreLinda was fantastic! She understands pressure points well and the reflexology style massage is exactly what I needed. I came in for a one hour foot massage and was asked if I’d be interested in the combination massage - I went for it. The only reason I take away one star is that I was forced into how much I should be tipping. I typically tip between 10%-25% depending on my overall experience. I think the masseuse was great but it’s important to leave it to the customer’s discretion how much they wish to tip.
P.S. I’ll be going back but only for the foot massage. I didn’t feel too great about the hygiene of the...
