Perfection is an elusive gem, and the Brownstone Pancake Factory encapsulates every facet of it! 😍🥞
When I stumbled upon images of their sumptuous drinks, generously filled pancakes, and beyond-description Texas-Sized "State Fair" like treats (yes, even in Jersey), I had to experience this haven firsthand.
It's undoubtedly a diner but a far cry from your typical old-fashioned joint where your keychain doubles as a table stabilizer. A quirky oasis dressed in vibrant green and brown hues, adorned with newspaper-inspired decor, a delightful nod to Peter and Irene's culinary legacy wrapped us in comfy cozy vibes and set the tone for the unique surprise ahead.
With a warm smile, the host welcomed us and swiftly seated us. Our waitress, Yasmine (I believe), dashed by in the blink of an eye to collect our drink orders—try the hot chocolate–as we delved into the epic tome of culinary wonders. The menu is nothing short of extensive! 📖🍔🥓
Succumbing to curiosity, we decided to break free from convention. My partner opted for the Sweet Apple Pie Pancakes, accompanied by home fries and crispy bacon. Meanwhile, I dared to try the full throttle of indulgence with the Mac Daddy Buffalo Chicken Mac 'N' Cheese Pancake Wrap.
Prepare yourself for an undeniable truth: every dish paraded by the waitstaff will beckon your taste buds. It was as though I was looking at food for the first time. And let me assure you, I'm not easily impressed, especially regarding portion sizes and culinary innovations (take a peek at the Texas State Fair Food, and you'll comprehend why). Yet, this establishment triumphed over even that!
Our orders arrived, my partner's monumental pancakes crowned with freshly cooked apples drenched in gooey magnificence alongside my colossal creation—an erupting volcano of mac 'n' cheese ensnared within the folds. Yasmine's attentive care persisted as we dove into our breakfast battleground. Though we bore substantial appetites, our valiant endeavors surrendered in the face of such bounty. 🍴😋
This establishment deserves a resounding five out of five across the board—for service, cuisine, and ambiance. A triumphant...
Read moreI was excited to try brownstone, but wow what a letdown in every area. What's great, are the hostesses, who quickly got our name down and got us seated within 5-10 minutes. As soon as we sat down, when someone was cleaning the table behind us, they unknowingly spilled milk all over my winter coat that was hung on the back of my chair. The table across from us got my attention, to let me know. OK, that happens. I asked them to please clean up the milk they had spilled behind my chair, so I could once again hang my coat on the chair. We had to ask four times, three different people to finally get it cleaned, 10 minutes later. Not to mention, they didn't even notice they had spilled milk all over my coat in the first place.
Then we placed our order, buttermilk pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. I had a regular coffee and my husband had the Ghirardelli milk hot chocolate. My coffee was good. His Ghirardelli hot chocolate was not hot; lukewarm at best. Not how you want to receive your hot chocolate, that is $8.
Then we receive our main meal. This is where I was really disappointed. I know that brownstone is known for their amazing creations, but I wanted to try the basic pancake to get an idea of their flavor without all of the additions on top. And they Had zero flavor. I had two bites and was finished. I haven't eaten pancakes in months, so to not even finish one pancake says a lot. the sausage that came with our order was also not warm and the bacon too difficult to chew because it was so hard.
Honestly, a total disappointment. We shared one plate between the both of us and 3/4 of the pancakes remained, the sausage and bacon also remained.
We won't be back. A total bummer. I'd definitely go...
Read moreWe have been to Brownstone many times. Today was the first time that we had an issue with very bad service and poor food quality.
We ordered then we needed to wait a while for our drinks. The coffee was brought to the table, without the milk we requested. We reminded the waitress. After 5 minutes I went up to the hostess and requested it again. She immediately brought it over. After a while we received our order one order was completely wrong. We pointed out what was delivered and asked the waitress to take the food back and replace it with what was ordered. It took over 10 minutes. It was obvious that the wrong order was just modified because some of it was cold. We made due because of the amount of time already spent.
When the check came I asked the waitress to remove the one dish from the check. After she rolled her eyes, she went to the manager. After 5 to 10 minutes the manager came by and asked us to explain again. Here is the real issue.. She said that she would remove it as a courtesy, but next we need to tell them what was wrong the second time. It is OUR responsibility. They took no responsibility for delivering cold food. It was eggs benedict. The sauce was cold, potatoes were cold the meat was removed but the waffles were the same. It was clear that only parts of the meal were replaced. I have never experienced a manager not apologizing and tell us that we would need to send it back multiple times.
We'll find another...
