Before I post my dissatisaction with this establishment I would like to preface by saying that I NEVER leave negative reviews. However, after my experience this morning I felt compelled to voice my issues since we now live in the world of technology and social media and I was not able to communicate with a live person.
My son is 17 and applied to work at this establishment on Indeed. After not hearing anything back for several weeks I suggested that he follow up. My son suffers from High Functioning Autism and has had severe depression and anxiety for several years. After finally getting his issues under control this year he started applying for jobs to gain a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had him stand next to me this morning while I showed him how to follow up over the phone for a job by calling this company.
I would also like to add that I am also a small business owner and know how difficult and demanding it is to deal with customers on a daily basis.
At approximately 9:30 am this morning I called the Edison location and asked to see if I could follow up on his application. Whoever answered the phone was one of the rudest individuals I have ever spoken to. Before I was even able to get a word in I was told that I should not be calling for my son and was abrudtly hung up on. While it is true that he needs to learn these skills I was simply helping him to get started with his first job. I don't know if this woman was the owner or an employee at a call center but either way the situation was handled extremely unprofessionally. If that was the owner she shouldn't be running a small business and if it was an employee I can see why there is ad out there because this company obviously doesn't know how to hire decent and qualified people.
I was also going to ask about booking my younger daughter's birthday party there in November but didn't even get a chance. Needless to say, we will be going elsewhere.
If I was able to get a human to call me back I would not have left this review, but unfortunately this company does not care enough to return a call. I will continue to help my son navigate other avenues but there is something to be said for a company that does not have any compassion.
Thank you for taking the time...
Read moreI brought my daughter and a half dozen of her friends here for her birthday party and they had a fantastic time. They did the "Tiki Treasure Boat" and finished it with about 10 1/2 minutes to spare.
Everything about this experience was spot-on. I reserved the room online about a month in advance. There were no surprises during this process and I got the confirmation email very quickly. Shortly thereafter there was a slight change of plans and I asked if we could reschedule to a later time. They quickly and painlessly made the adjustment, and sent me an updated confirmation email.
A reminder email was sent to me the morning of the party, which was unnecessary for me but still a nice touch.
The building and parking lot are well marked and easily accessible. Bonus points to whoever thought of putting an "across the street" advertisement on the bus stop across the street from the facility. Great idea!
Once inside we were momentarily thrown off because there was no reception area. Having been to other Amazing Escape Rooms I knew there had to be one, so we went along the only path that was offered: up the stairs, which turned out to be the correct course of action. The reception area, attended by May and an oddly-silent Deadpool, was waiting for us. The group "signed" their waivers electronically, via their phones, which only took about a minute, and then May brought them back downstairs to the room.
I was not present in the room but I was able to hear a lot of the laughter and activity as it unfolded, along with a huge cheer once they completed the room. We took a bunch of pictures of the victorious party before thanking both May and Jamie, the game controller who watched over the group while they were in the escape room.
Good times were had by all. Big thanks again to both May and Jamie for helping make the experience painless and fun for everyone.
We will definitely...
Read moreI try to leave honest reviews for escape rooms. Piersons Mansion here at Amazing escape in Edison was the room that we completed this time. Unfortunately out of the 86 rooms I have done, this one was the most disappointing. The puzzles in the room started pretty promising, we solved the first two with ease. However, every other part of the room was difficult to understand. We were told that items with red stickers should not be touched, and we had to interact with items with red stickers! The puzzles were confusing and we truly didn’t know as to whether we solved something without the game master chiming in and telling us where to look next. There were several items in the room that we didn’t even need to interact with at all that seemed like part of a puzzle, and afterwards the game master said that those things used to be puzzles, but due to the rooms mechanical errors they left the broken items inside while just taking the puzzle element out. When we consulted with the game master afterwards, he informed us that many of the broken items don’t get fixed throughout the room despite them calling corporate, me and my group would like to chime in and say plz help out this location. As we were solving some puzzles, the game master also chimed in to tell us we were doing something correct but it wasn’t registering due to the room not functioning. This room is at least in progress and at most should be redone completely. I want escape rooms to be successful and I understand that things can go wrong. However the issues we faced seem to be more of the integral room problem than a mistake here or there. I unfortunately will not be returning to any rooms here and i recommend that this establishment takes a big step back before continuing to advertise and run the rooms in...
