Custom Sounds & Tint - Edmond OK — Attraction in Edmond

I have a 2021 Sierra 1500 AT4, and I just wanted more out of a listening experience with the truck. I drive typically around 35,000 miles a year, so I figured that warranted the audio being upgraded.

I approached Custom Sounds and Tint with the idea of replacing EVERYTHING in the truck, and they had a lot of great ideas to help me achieve what I wanted. Tristen specifically was amazing to work with. Very knowledgeable salesperson, and spec'd out everything I needed for the new build.

I had a set of Focal Flax Evo's installed in the front doors, JL 2.75" mids in the dash, and Focal Access 6.5"s in the back, along with 2 CT Sounds Meso 8's under the rear seat. They're not a CT Sounds dealer, but these I ordered myself. It's all powered with an Audison AF C8.14 for the doors and a Rockford Fosgate 1200w for the bass.

The install itself, absolutely fantastic. Looks like they never touched the truck. Not a mark, scratch, gap or anything anywhere. No visible wires, it seriously looks OEM. Beyond impressed with their install and how they treated my truck. The installer also built a custom box for the 2 8's under the seat, and it plays exactly how I wanted it to. I told him the importance of protecting the cones, I have kids. He fitted grilles over them that work excellent, and the surround doesn't touch them even when it plays low. Everything's hidden, it looks stock.

The only thing I was dissatisfied with, was the DSP tuning. I understand this is subjective, and someone else could really like this tune. It wasn't for me. I can't tell if they just yoinked the curve up on most of the speakers or if their RTA process needs work, but either way it didn't sound great when I got it. The door mid crossover was set too low and was getting super muddy for having way too much low end going through it, it sounded unsafe at higher levels honestly.

I started fresh, redid the crossovers, made small EQ tweaks and I'm super happy with it now, plays EVERYTHING well. Tuned it to sound great with metal (probably the most difficult genre to get good separation and clarity with) and everything else sounds 10x better lol.

I would definitely recommend this shop for your audio needs. Absolute worst case, have them tune the DSP to an album you really like and it'll probably go better for you. They tuned it with genres I don't really listen to, which I'm sure contributed to the disconnect.

Thus far working with Lando has been a great experience. He and one of the installers came up with a creative solution for my situation. They were able to begin right away and I think I’m just a few hours away from picking up my vehicle. Very excited to see what they’ve put together!!

Tons of sound coming out of my truck now!!! I've had it back for a couple of weeks and I've enjoyed driving back and forth to work so much more. Traffic is a lot less frustrating when you can play your favorite tunes at an unholy volume. They put together a box for the sub that fits perfectly in the extra cab area of my Toyota Tacoma (can also be used as a bench seat or a package deck - so I still have the storage space). When I came to pick it up, I was really surprised.... rather than cover the box in black vinyl, Lando had taken the time to track down some Blue/Grey Vinyl so that the box was a perfect match for the factory interior. I’ve been into music all of my life I’ve learned about sound and the quality of sound over the years I met Lan over 25 years ago back then I couldn’t afford the high quality stuff he had so I had to settle for what was affordable so much to my surprise when I walked into the store and seen him behind the counter it was like seeing a friend you hadn’t seen in forever he and his team answered every question I had in detail and I had a lot of questions lol. Their knowledge I car audio is second to none! I am very pleased with everything thing I’ve gotten so far the shop is clean and professional and I felt at home there but what stood out the most I asked him what was the best sound proof head unit and speakers with amps should I buy and he simply said start with the head unit first to see how the current speakers sound and perform instead of taking my money and making a sell they earned my business for life by being honest with me I’m in the retail business and that means a lot!
