This is a great place to enjoy our Puget Sound. From the bluff along Sunset Ave., the ferry landing is on your left, there's the Water Park below you, there are trains to see (if you like them as much as I do), but the view from atop the bluff is supreme, being THE best place to enjoy sunsets, and with the Olympics for a backdrop, they're often breathtaking. (So bring your camera, a cell phone if nothing else, but a DSLR is highly advised.) The view of the Sound is often so spectacular I often swing by here on the way home from shopping, etc. There are places along the bluff where you can park; plus, the are some park bench seats scattered along the street. Remember that you approach the Sunset Ave. from the south, especially as only the 1st couple blocks are 2-way, the street changing to 1-way as you travel north. Nearby is Edmonds' downtown, including some very nice places to eat and a few superb coffee places, including Waterfront Coffee at the corner of where the Sunset Ave. crosses Main. Of course, Edmonds has the most wonderful Edmonds Theater on Main, so Sunset is a great place to visit after a movie. Also, Edmonds Bakery is across the street from the theater, so grabbing a scone or a roll to snack on while watching the sunset is a worthwhile...
Read moreNice little beachfront park that spans both sides of the Edmonds Ferry Terminal. The northside has a beach alcove bookended by the ferry terminal and a jetty. The southside alcove is bookended by the marina seawall/fishing pier and the ferry terminal.
Good place to watch for seals, sealions and birds. When the weather is clear you get spectacular views of the Olympics. Fishing is allowed off the pier on the southside.
There's a parking lot by the northside of the ferry terminal. You can walk on the beach or on paved sidewalks. There are benches along the sidewalks (seems like more benches on the southside). I think someone with mobility issues (walker, wheelchair, cane) can enjoy both sides of the park if they keep to the sidewalks and pier.
This is a popular place for afternoon/sunset walks (expect lots of people). As of Jan 2021 the majority of people are wearing masks and maintaining social distance. However, there were a large number of people (both adults and older kids)...
Read moreMy favorite pastime is catching sunrises and sunsets. I remember as a little girl sitting on the rooftops looking at the Sun rise and looking at the sunsets, and I thought how beautiful the skies look when it turns into those multi-colored hues of orange, blue, and yellow. I thought how fascinating it is and how glorious it is. The Earth declares God's glory and sunrises and sunsets are definitely a part of that.
Brackett's Landing has beautiful sunsets and I finally was able to catch one, and it was nice There were so many people out social distancing of course, but a lot of us were catching that sunset. I went back a few hours later and I found children playing in the water, hearing their laughter makes life normal. I saw a train going by and a ferry coming in, one coming and one going and It was beautiful. If you have a moment perhaps I'll see you standing on the dock or on the shore during a sunset, at Brackett's Landing. :) Be safe and...
