Edmonds Fishing Pier, located in Washington State, is a picturesque destination that I had the pleasure of visiting for the first time and found to be truly impressive. The city of Edmonds has done an exemplary job in constructing this pier and the adjacent marina.
Additionally, there is a nearby beach where visitors can enjoy soaking up the sun and participating in paddleboarding activities. A ferry service operates between Edmonds and Kingston, providing a visually stunning experience as it traverses the waters throughout the day.
The pier itself offers a variety of activities, including fishing, crabbing, and observing fishermen as they cast their lines for salmon. While I am unfamiliar with the weekday atmosphere, I would advise weekend visitors to be prepared for a multitude of crabbing lines in the water. During my visit, I observed approximately 200 crab lines suspended from the pier into the water, which was the highest number I...
Read moreBeing a student of aquaculture and fisheries we have learned that monofilament and other fishing line is detrimental to the ecosystem and the animals. There should be PVC collection containers for fishing line. Not garbage cans as line needs to be cut up in pieces. A 6 inch PVC pipe that can be emptied. Sometimes I see line on the pier with no place to discard. Washington fisheries is one of a kind you will hardly find anything like it anywhere in the world. Alaska to Oregon is salmon habitat. Other states don't care because they are not educated on keystone species. Salmon is a keystone species which means if the salmon die the ecosystem will fail..... Yes FAIL. Elected officials in our state have a duty to do what it takes to help the salmon survive. This is NOT being done. Each female salmon has over 1000 eggs. They will come back but not without humanitys helping hands. Nice to have accessible parking. Thank...
Read moreGetting here is a nightmare if you happen to arrive during peak ferry hours. Plan to add another 10-15 minutes just in traffic from the freeway. Once you arrive, plan to walk. A lot. Parking is plentiful but far. Also plan to fight commercial and retail customer for the nearest spots. Once you're on the pier, get ready to elbow others just to cast a line. Careful though! You'll probably trip over at least one crab pot line on your way. If not, they'll likely scare away any nibbles with near constant splashing from cages hitting the water. Surely they could separate the crabbers from the...
