My wedding reception was held at Edmonds Waterfront Center. My wife and I toured the event space and fell completely in love with the picturesque backdrop. We were informed that the Edmonds Waterfront Center has an exclusive partnership with Shooby Doo Catering. We had two tastings with Shooby Doo. Despite seeing red flags with the menu, my wife and I pushed forward with the Edmonds Waterfront Center because we fell in love with the venue.
Shooby Doo Catering left a lot to be desired. The bread was stale, the chicken tikka masala was bone dry, the salmon was average, and the food wasn’t hot. To spend $19,497.21 on food that was forgettable, left both of our families frustrated.
Since Shooby Doo was the only option for catering we felt trapped, so we prioritized the event space over the food. In retrospect, we realized we wouldn’t have had the reception at the Edmonds Waterfront Center due to the exclusive partnership with Shooby Doo.
We served roughly the same amount of people for our rehearsal dinner with a private caterer who charged under $5,000. There are hundreds of small businesses in Snohomish county who are hungry to prove themselves and show off their culinary excellence. We understand you have an exclusive partnership with Shooby Doo Catering. This monopoly doesn’t provide any urgency and thus results is complacency. We strongly advise you to reconsider this partnership. The Edmonds Waterfront Center is an architectural jewel. I would hate for the community of Edmonds to be priced out of experiencing one of the most beautiful venues in the Northwest due to an enormous catering bill.
We wrote to EWC personally and did not hear back from them. It's a shame that our frustrations were not dealt with and companies like Shooby Doo Catering are left unchecked.
If you are looking for an event space I would strongly suggest you check out the Edmonds Yacht Club because they do not have any exclusive contracts...
Read moreThis place is beautiful, but the way they treat people doesn't measure up to the esthetics. In my experience, Daniel the CEO appears to be extremely greedy especially since the City of Edmonds isn't able to give them money anymore. Daniel is not inclusive of all economic levels and now charges money for all the events instead of taking suggested donations so ALL people can attend. Daniel needs to be replaced by someone who doesn't discriminate against certain levels of income and stop allowing Teresa Whiple from My Edmonds News to partner with him. In my experiences with Teresa, she appears to share the same issues as Daniel, which would make sense that they work together on these book events that aren't free but should be.
All the classes also appear to be geared towards making money rather than bringing the community together as originally designed when Rick Steves donated millions of dollars. The classes also appear to be focused on New Age principles while none are Christian based. We would LOVE to have a Bible class at the center that is free to attend.
Please replace Daniel with someone who cares about including ALL people into the events and takes suggested donations rather than excluding those who can't pay. Also, Teresa Whiple who is at the book events, does not appear to be an authentic person, nor...
Read moreEdmonds Waterfront Center was the PERFECT venue for our Celebration of Life event! As is somewhat typical, it was a dark and rainy day so we were very happy to be inside but still surrounded by the beauty of the Edmonds waterfront! The space was set up with Audio / Visual equipment, a projector and a separate television that broadcasted our video during the event. Their communication was excellent throughout and they provided a number of options to enhance our gathering. We opted to bring our own food / bev as it was a central part of remembering my brother-in-law, and the Center had a refrigerator / freezer in the kitchen that worked perfectly for us. The space opened up to a nice-sized balcony for those that took their grieving outside for a minute. The only thing I might have done different would have been to book the space for a longer time. We felt a bit rushed in getting everyone out before our time was up, but paying the extra for Edmonds center to set-up and tear-down the tables / chairs was well worth it! When looking for a beautiful space to celebrate or gather, I highly recommend Edmonds...
