Enforce your no cell phone use during the movie policy!! Having one is pointless if you never enforce it. Come on! I had the absolute worst experience there where the idiot in the same row as me kept turning his cell phone on to text, check time, whatever he was doing, and my eyes kept going to that bright light and away from the movie screen! It wasn't a cheap movie either, it was a 3D movie with an upcharge with no matinee option meaning prime time cost. This was ridiculous to pay this amount, then have the experience ruined by an idiot turning on his cell phone multiple times during the movie!
Movie theaters need to implement a cell phone check to enter the theater, and get it back afterwards, just like the state of Illinois requires for state testing (teacher exams must check cell phones before testing, then can pick it up when finished). Movie theaters have to do this now, because this has just gone off the deep end with all this cell phone use during movies. I turn mine off completely so it doesn't disturb anyone, myself included. When I went to theaters in the 90's you didn't see people turning on cell phones during the movie. The biggest problems then were loud talkers- just watch Seinfeld and other 90's shows with theater scenes to get an idea. Until such a policy is implemented, I refuse to return to a movie theater after this last experience.
It's a shame that all these adults can't be respectful of their fellow movie watchers. If you're going to go to a movie, quit ruining the experience of others by using your phone! And don't accept this emergency excuse, people survived the 70's, 80's, and 90's without being immediately contacted during an emergency. Besides, if you need to be contacted for an emergency, why are you even watching a movie in a theater to begin with? I can see why streaming is so popular now, you avoid idiots in the theater who ruin your experience, just as I experienced at this location on my last...
Read moreYesterday we went to see a movie at AMC Theater in Edwardsville. On the doors and posted all over mask are required for everyone. As we entered it was about 50/50 people wearing mask. So we decided not to wear them. Right as we got to the desk the cashier asked if we had a mask if not they have them for sale. I said no and she responded with they are required. So we bought our tickets online and asked for a refund. We were refunded everything except the convenience fee which she did not inform us of. I asked for a manager to get my full refund and she told me if I would have did the refund online I would have got the full refund but now I was out of luck. I asked about the people not wearing mask and she said they didn’t have too because they were part of a church group that had rented part of the theater. Now I’m not a real smart man but I thought the practice of segregation has been over for years. People were sharing the same entry, restrooms, and concessions. I don’t really care if you wear a mask or not or if a business requires them or not but. To pick and choose which guest does and doesn’t in the same facility is just crazy.
Shame on AMC Edwardsville for trying to bring segregation back.
PS: After texting with customer service for over 2 hours I was told they would refund my...
Read moreI gave them 2 stars because this location is clean, and customer service is good (the guy that take the tickets was awesome! ). So, I paid for our tickets online, which allow us to pick the seats. I had 4 kids with me to see Peter Rabbit 2, so I picked seats not too close to the screen and right next to the isle because little ones tend to go to the rest room during the movie. Well, when we got there our seats were taken. Rather than start some mess, I go find the manager and ask for his help, hoping he'd let these inconsiderate people know that they were in someone else's seats. His response was "well can you all just sit somewhere else, because we'd have to move several people around." There was only a full row in the floor area, right under the screen. He even suggested that we split up to get the seats further up. How is it ok to split one adult and 4 kids up but not okay to move several people in the seats that I chose and paid for?!? Again, I decided not to cause a scene so the children could enjoy the show, but we will not be back. I felt like I was being told my family and I didn't matter even though I paid to be there.. It's very offensive. There are other locations with better seats, and with a more considerate community that I will gladly spend...
