I debated on leaving a review but after seeing the last review I thought it might be necessary. The best part about this place is the superiority complex. Most of the customers are older and younger American women. You can tell how much they love to serve us by their inconsistent price range. I get the same thing every time. I was flattered by the main guys complement when he told me my natural nail was dip. Honestly I don’t even know what dip nail is. It is a newer technique and me being 30 I still get a gel nail polish change. My nails are real but do look fake so I guess after the third time of me saying it was my natural nail and him saying they were dip, I just accepted and moved on. I just wanted to get in and get out. So I picked this mint color (427) and got a matte (Matt) top coat/finish. The technician was actually super friendly and chatted. Typically, the technicians barely say a word other than to ask about my nails. To my surprise the technician who did my nails the previous time didn’t remember me ( we all kinda look the same anyways). My current technician said the other tech did not really speak English. Not a big deal. I only speak two languages but that isn’t important. Anyways chatting away with the tech and I thought the convo was going good but I guess we were talking too much Bc the main guy ( probably the owner, dressed to the nine, wearing a Burberry button up) pulled my tech aside, and then another tech finished. I felt bad bc I felt like I got him in trouble or something. Anyways the other tech finished my nails and of course they looked absolutely amazing. The price range is weird here because the first time I came I got manicure and pedicure. I paid 85$, Left 15$ For a tip. I always tip my service workers. They deserve it. The next time I just got a new gel nail. It was 30$, I left a 10$ tip because I usually do. After that the price was 20$. I guess it’s because he didn’t massage my hands. I left 5$. This time it was 35$ and I left 10$. Anyways, the place is always clean. They always wear masks. The new plastic dividers make me feel more secure. If you can get past the backhanded compliments, you will really enjoy this place. The real nails look great in the gel...
Read moreI have been to DK Nails and Spa 2 times now, the first time i went, the people were very rude. it was my first time ever getting acrylic nails done proffesionally. everytime i asked a question, they would get mad and talk to the other staff there in a different language. but my nails did turn out beautiful and they lasted for apporoximately 3 weeks. i went back to DK Nails and Spa 2 days ago to give them a 2nd chance... I went on Thursday morning and it is now Saturday. First of all, the staff was very nice when i got there, the lady that put the tips on, didnt even measure out the size of the tips. she put glue on my nails, and just placed a random tip on. when she was about to put the 3rd nail on, i realized she was using the clear tips instead of the white tips. i did tell her earlier that i wanted french tips. as she was putting on the 3rd one, she asked me what color i wanted i said "I told you i wanted white tips" bu obviously she wasnt listening. so she just RIPPED THE NAILS THAT I ALREADY HAD ON RIGHT OFF! It hurt so bad! After she got all the tips on, she switched positions with a guy. he was really nice but when he got all done, he put a clear coat of polish on and I DID NOT TOUCH THEM and i spotted a smuge and so i told him, HE SAT THERE AND ACCUSED ME OF MAKIN IT!!! he said, "oh no you smuged it" i told him that i didnt and he said that he never couldve done that?! but he took the polish off of it and repainted it. Then, 2 days later, i have been very careful with these to make sure they dont break!! I was at breakfast today with my family and noticed a crack in the nail he had to repaint. i was hoping it was just a hair from my dog and i just brushed it off to see if it was a hair and next thing i knew, the nail fell right off! now looking at the nail, it looks about 1/2 as thick as the other nails! he must not have put a very good layer of acrylic on. I will not be going back to DK nails, fore they have very much disappointed me from BOTH visits. This is an update: i just went in to get my nail fixed, i had the same nail technician and he recognized me and did it for free because he realized it was his fault with the acrylic liquid! stars are...
Read moreI have gone to DK twice now. The nail technician was the same both times. He was personable in a sense, but disrespectful in another. If I could get him to change the subject, he was a nice person to have a conversation with, but most of the nail appointment was spent by me getting hit on. The second time i came in was a couple weeks later, and he got up from his seat and tried to tickle my side, slightly below my chest. When i asked him to stop, he did it once more. That was while he was doing another woman's nails. When it was time for my appointment, he made a reference to a one night stand by showing me a hand signal. When I didn't reciprocate the signal he asked if I knew what he was doing. When I responded no, he explained it to me. He was very disrespectful and inappropriate. At one point, he then invited my roommates and myself to his apartment several times. This was when I stopped responding to him. Four days after my appointment, I had to return because the gel nail polish I had requested began peeling up and back because the technician hadn't sealed the nail properly (i am guessing). The day I returned was yesterday (the day before writing this review). As I sit here and type, four more nails are losing their gel polish, the polish that is claimed to stay on for 2 weeks at a time. If the nails had been done properly and not sloppily, I'm sure they would have stayed in pristine condition. I will be going in to get them fixed, but this is the last time I will be...
