Edwardsville Children's Museum — Attraction in Edwardsville

i personally have been a member of the children’s museum for quite a while now and take my kids there frequently. as much as i love going for open play and my kids enjoy it, i will say my reasoning for only giving 4 stars is due to our experience at “Camp Splish Splash” a few weeks ago. i brought my 4, 5 and 6 year old to their 1 hour water themed camp and found myself to be very unpleased with one of the older ladies working at the slip and slide station. mind you, most of the children there were very little and obviously just want to have fun and explore, and i also understand with that there needs to be regulations as to how many kids can use the slip and slide at once for safety. that being said, this older lady was yelling and clapping her hands at the kids the entire hour of camp because they kept runnng up to the slip n slide, not understanding they had to be in a single file line, and again most of these kids were probably 2-3 years old. she was waving her hands and being very condescending to the kids, had absolutely no patience and did not speak to them in a kind manner whatsoever. i’ve had nothing but good experiences at the museum so i hate to say how disappointing this experience was, especially since i paid $30 for my kids to get yelled at and clapped at for an hour straight because the slip n slide was their favorite thing to do. she was not helping either by attempting to create a line, she simply was just yelling and pointing “LINE” to all the children and made them visibly uncomfortable, and to my surprise no parents spoke up so neither did i. by the end, one of the other workers stepped up and helped guide the children in a kind way which i much appreciated. but overall, was not pleased by...

Definitely not for a one year old on a busy day.... the kids are running wild (understandable) and we couldn't even set down our baby or let her play with things because it was so busy and overrun. I would definitely recommend calling and asking what their slowest day is and going then... or just waiting until your child is old enough to not get ran over. I wish there was a baby specific room. I would not recommend for a 1 year old and was a little disappointed that we had to pay for her. We took her on her birthday so it ended up being $24 to pretty much to hold her and tour the place. It is our fault for taking her on what ended up being a super busy day but my review is for babies and busy days. The best part was outside so she could sit in the chairs and bang on the instruments. We will be back to visit when she is much older (2+). Would have been 4 stars if we didn't have to pay for her to do basically nothing and would have been 5 for more baby specific things. I wish the website didn't say infants because that is what drew us in, in the first place. I was impressed by the little bags to put dirty/mouthed toys in. I think overall its well thought out but its just not for infants, you would need a private session to bring a 1 or younger baby...

Okay I’m giving 4 stars because this isn’t my first rodeo at a childrens museum and because of this I will say they could’ve did a better job of picking up behind the kids. There was one side of the museum that looked pretty together but the other side of the museum was in complete disarray lol. Yes there were kids playing but there’s got to be a better way to keep some kind of order. I say this because I have went to other Childrens museums where they have figured this out so the next person coming along can enjoy that particular section.

There is a diverse amount of activities and sections to explore from gardening, to the mail, to firefighters, blocks, books, velocity, drawing and more! My kids are 2 and 4 and they loved it. This can easily occupy your kids for multiply hours lol.

The day we can it was raining so the outside section was closed but it looks fun and we’re excited to go back and enjoy it. For $7 I can dig it. If you live in the area a membership is worth it and you can upgrade during your visit.
