El Paso Public Library Dorris Van Doren Branch — Attraction in El Paso

My child and I went there a couple of weeks ago looking for a specific book so that my child could take a reading test (AR test) for school. I asked the 2 lady employees that were working that late afternoon and NEITHER one of them knew what I was talking about! Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you work in the library, wouldn't it be smart to know and learn of all the tools the library offers? You have students looking for important information and to have the staff not have any idea what your talking about is preposterous! So to make it easy on them, I asked them to see if they had any books by an author that we could check out. I gave them the name of the author and the employee SLOWLY looked into the computer. She said IF they had any, they would be in the back against the wall. My child and I spent 45 minutes looking and looking and NOT ONCE did ANY of the employees come over and ask if we needed any help!! I spoke to my child's teachers and school librarian about this experience and they all say the same thing about this library, they offer ZERO help. It is ridiculous how rude and how unhelpful the staff at this library are and how nothing is done about the customer service. I will not be visiting this location again, I would rather spend the money on line or make a longer trip at another location than to visit...

This library is one of the newest built libraries on the west side of town.This library offers a lots of options, computer, kids corner, restrooms, voting, very clean and friendly staff. I normally go to the library and park in the back and exercise because the location of the library is behind a park that has 3 hills to run or walk, mountain bike, walk your pets. I am helping my niece and nephew with a project for Halloween and we needed paper for the paper mache. I called three recycling centers that turned me away claiming it was for them to sell to corporate buyers.

So I called up this library asking if they had old newspaper to get rid of and they are giving it to me without a problem.
