St. Jude Catholic Church — Attraction in Elyria

A lovely church in Elyria with highly involved parishioners. The best part of this church is the Pastor, Father Joseph Scalco. I have not had a confession that is as alleviating, profoundly nourishing, and inspiring as the one I experienced with him. Patient is a caring listener and shows interest by engaging and delving to better assess and console. Kind but gentle, he corrected me and encouraged me with words to keep on the path ahead. The penance was the most edifying I have ever been given and shall continue to use it. I wish we had more priests like him. If I am back in town, I will definitely be coming back to this church to meet with this priest. The Holy Mass was a bit overtaken by the different men who participate in the services; for example the introduction to readings, (first time for me). The Deacon seems to be the main attention grabber at the altar and overshadows a very gentle and unassuming pastor. He, the deacon, is amicable to the point of engaging the parishioners from the altar (not pulpit) during the Rite of Peace through signs and gestures more becoming of a friendly encounter outside the House of God. The music is beautiful but definitely custom tailored for the pianist and singer there. The soprano notes she sings are beautiful but challenging for many to achieve, making it difficult for anyone to praise God with the selected hymns. All in all, I am grateful that I was able to attend the Holy Mass but above all the unforgettable experience of the best confession I have had in a long, long time. Another point is the reverence Fr.
