The beach & park area as a whole was a beautiful park. The paths & picnic areas were clean & appeared to be well maintained. The dog beach seemed smaller & more quaint than the other dog beaches in the area; this was what appealed most to us. The fenced area was about a 25’ stretch beach. It was clean, the pups playing seemed to be happy. The downside of this was that we came in with our dog she was greeted by another pit bull and his owner. Our dog sniffed & gave a playful bark (tail wagging) & immediately the owner said that his dog would attack ours if he needs to. This wasn’t not the only uncourteous interaction we had, even after we moved as far north in the fenced area as was possible so that our pup wouldn’t distract the others. Overall, I really liked then size and cleanliness of the park. I wouldn’t recommend this park for any pups with high anxiety, recovering/rehabbing from surgeries, or that aren’t 100% with all other animals & people. Hope you find this helpful.

It's amazing just waking around and watching the dogs! There's also a beautiful path along the water with many other critters. The people watching is prime too 😁

The Evanston dog beach is a super nice spot for your dog to play and swim. The water is fairly shallow pretty far out and has a sandy bottom. There is a rinsing station for your dog just outside the entrance. Free passes for Evanston residents but you must have your vet fill out a form to ensure your dog has its vaccinations and no parasites. This is on-line with many dog parks in the area and ensures the health and safety of all dogs that play at the beach. If you are looking for a spot that is a free for all without these requirements, head 25 minutes south to Montrose Dog...

For a free space this a great stop during nice weather. With lake Michigan being so high right now there is less running space on the beach. For swimming dogs this is a great place. Officially the dog park has a closed sign but that is cause the beach is smaller right now. Perk is that there is no Evanston pet permit to use it now. That has been waived for 2 years. Gate is not locked so just open it and have your pups play. Really friendly pet owners and good to have dogs...
