If you're looking for a fine 🍽 dining experience rooted in high-quality, seasonal dishes with a heavy dose of masculine nostalgia, this place is for you! The befittingly named Graduate Homestead serves up a fusion of classic and contemporary American cuisine in a very high end yet cozy atmosphere. The balance of salt, fat, acid and heat of the chicken roulade was expertly executed. The burger was medium well crafted with such care it retained its moisture and was topped with the least gamey thick cut bacon I've tasted. Reservations aren't difficult to come by, valet and street parking are available, seating is prompt, service is attentive without being overbearing, plus the kitchen sets a nice pace so you can be comfortably coursed out all the way to desert. The location is perfectly nestled inside Evanston’s, The Graduate Hotel, on a beautiful and quiet section of Hinman Avenue. This place lives up to the hype and goes beyond it. Graduate Homestead won't disappoint whether you're already accustomed to American fine dining or looking for somewhere to begin your culinary adventures. Many compliments to the...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about Jordan, the restaurant manager at Homestead Room. My fiancé and I are having a small, 15-minute Zoom wedding ceremony for just the two of us and our two kids. Because this restaurant is where we had our first date, I asked if we could hold it there, during a brunch reservation. I was thinking plopping the laptop on the table and making the best of it.
Jordan was incredible—she immediately offered us a private room, asked if we’d like the furniture rearranged to make the space feel special, and even suggested mimosas for us and hot chocolate for the kids.
Her thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, and genuine care turned a simple idea into a truly memorable moment for our family. It’s clear that Jordan will go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and valued. I’m so grateful for her kindness and can’t wait to create more special...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for my friend’s birthday brunch, and while the ambiance was absolutely amazing and relaxing, the rest of the experience was a complete letdown. The servers were rude and had a bad attitude, which immediately soured the mood. On top of that, the service was incredibly slow—it took forever for our food to arrive.
When the food finally came, it was a disaster. The burger was burnt, the steak was overcooked, and even the pancakes were disappointing. The omelette was also shockingly small for the price. To top it off, at the end of our meal, the waiter carelessly dropped our credit cards on the table without so much as a “thank you” or “goodbye.”
For a place with such a lovely ambiance, the service and food were shockingly bad. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all based on...
